Janice Lieberman brought us a story this morning about coats with fur collars, and the fact that many of them are mislabeled in terms of what kind of fur it is.

Live From Studio 1A: How Much is that Doggie in the Window?

As sicking as it was to watch and hear,I thank-you for this piece.Because without knowing, we would not know what needs to be done about this cruelty to these defenseless animals that can not help themselfs. Can you tell me what can we do to help those dogs,Besides not purchasing those products? How do I support the Humane Society actions to end this type of treatment? It's gross and cruel.
I think a large KUDOS needs to go out the other designers that have stopped and/or pulled this type of clothing. It's one thing not to know, it's another to ignore it completely. Thanks Today Show for letting everyone know. I think you've changed the way a lot of people shop especially me.

Live From Studio 1A: How Much is that Doggie in the Window?

For those sickened by the Chinese fur trade (and rabbits, foxes and other fur-bearing animals suffer equally as much as dogs and cats), there are positive things you can do: ask your U.S. Representative to support and co-sponsor the Dog and Cat Fur Prohibition Enforcement Act of 2007 (a link on www.hsus.org makes this very easy); contact stores and designers using Asian fur; write to the Chinese ambassador, and just plain speak out...make others aware of how cruel fur is. I've done all these things since reading about Chinese fur two years ago.

Live From Studio 1A: How Much is that Doggie in the Window?

Thank you for airing this piece. The public needs to know what is in a product, regardless of what it's "worth" (e.g. under $150). What was that fur worth to the animal that wore it but had it skinned from it while still alive?
Wearing fur is cruel, regardless of whether or not it's considered a "legal" species. "Legal" or not, these animals are all treated horribly and die a heinous death.

Live From Studio 1A: How Much is that Doggie in the Window?

Thank you for giving me this much appreciated information. Seeing the dog in the gunny sack being slapped back in will stay with me. I will write my US Representative and the Chinese Ambassador, although I think it will be on deaf ears unfortunately. I wish I had money - I would be over in China stopping this myself.
