Before I watched the Oprah interview yesterday, I too thought the Goldman family needed to move on. Today I feel differently. OJ received a sizeable advance for the book when it was first published. That money and his NFL pension (millions of $ a year) will never be touched to pay the judgement from the civil case because he has his team of clever lawyers and lives in Florida (a state that protects pensions from lawsuits). The Goldmans stand to collect a measly 17 cents per book sold. This isn't about the money, this is about keeping the money out of OJ's hands. I for one, commend them! Who cares what they do with the money, they won the judgement and should collect it!

All the comments that I have read state that the Goldman's should move on and get over it. Well, how many of us have had a close family member murdered? I would be so angry that the person who murdered my son or daughter was walking around free,getting the same star treatment as he did before the murders. This book may be the only avenue that the Goldman's have to get back at OJ. To show him he can't control everything. We all know what he did but this book now shows that he knows what he did. What is the difference between the Peterson case and the OJ case? The OJ case was made into a black and white issue. I followed both the OJ and the Peterson cases and by far there was more evidence to convict OJ than Scott Peterson. Scott Peterson is guilty also. Something troubling about the OJ trail that has always bothered me is him trying on the glove. Well, leather gloves that are exposed to liquid, either blood or water will shrink. That is why they did not fit his hand. Marsha Clark and Chris Darden did do their job and did it very well. Nicole and OJ had a history, either good or bad and the Brown's had to of known of the abuse. Ron Goldman on the other hand was honestly just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Tt is not for us to judge. We do not walk in the Goldman's or the Brown's shoes.

My understanding is that a 'Universal' outcry resulted over the publishing of this book by OJ. The thought that two murdered people's lives and deaths would be put in print by the murderer was disgusting to say the least. My understanding is that OJ profitted from the book by being paid $680,000.00 in conference fees. I don't understand why the Goldman's and Brown's did not receive that money?
I try to understand why the Goldman's have decided to publish this book at this time,or any time and no matter how I look at it, it is all about revenge and money. While I believe that it is true that they should do what they want with the book, I pray that some day they get closure on this painful part of their lives. At the same time, I believe that the only people that will buy the book are the same people that would have bought the book if OJ had it published.
OJ, if guilty, will have his judgement day by the biggest judge of them all. Meanwhile, I find it hard to believe that he is not being punished on this earth. I mean..really..would you ever talk to him or be alone with him?

As wrong as it seems, I do agree with the Goldmans. Like their lawyer said in the blog: "They have taken something OJ coveted away from him". Victims of brutal crimes are often left with a sense of powerlessness that is impossible to get over. I love to see pictures of OJ still enjoying life - how awful that he had to go through this. Thank goodness that the killer had smaller hands than him or he would be suffering even more. He seems like such a loving father to his children. I hope that some day the Goldmans learn to deal with their loss and realize that pursuing a man who was found innocent will not bring him back.

I would like to send my heart felt condolences to the Goldman Family, they seem like super nice people who obviously suffered tremendously from the loss of Ron. Since the trial brought no justice to the family, the only possible recourse for them was the civil suit. There have been some who accuse the Goldmans of exploiting the situation for money, anyone who has heard them speak passionately about their beloved Ron would know that is not at all the case. I applaude their efforts to hound O.J Simpson's every step, this complete and total outrage of a book he wrote was a poorly disguised confession that he should not be allowed to profit from. Money means a lot to someone like O.J, a man who is used to getting his way and used to a lot of attention, it's obvious he loves his material goods.
Hopefully, Fred and Kim will be a painful thorn in O.J "IF I Did It" Simpson's side to his dying day.

Two points to consider. First, while OJ was not found guilty, that by no means assures his innocence. The standard of proof in criminal cases is "beyond a reasonable doubt". The verdict must be reached by unanimous decision of the jury. Given the circus the investigation and trial became, it is not surprising that one or more of the jurors would have a reasonable doubt of his guilt. That's all it took. The standard of proof in a civil matter is "by a preponderance of the evidence" meaning more likely than not(even if only a tiny bit more likely) and only requires 9 of 12 jurors to agree on the defendants liability. No one ever proved OJ was innocent. Second, no one who has not lost a child violently or unexpectedly has any basis by which to judge the Goldmans, their grief or their decisions. You may say I know what that must be like and I know how I would respond, but you do not. They will never "Get over it". They may "Move on" but their lives have been permanently and indelibly altered by the death of their child and brother. There is nothing in their lives, no event, no emotion that is not filtered through their loss. Consider that the actions they have taken, from siezing his Heisman trophy, to publishing his book, to appearing in the media are not attempts to enrich themselves or to punish OJ but are attempts to do what they can to make sense of the terrible hole left in their lives when Ron Goldman was killed.

Absolutely nobody can understand what the Goldman's are going through unless you have gone through it yourself. My brother was murdered as well, but unfortunately due to shoddy police work, it was never solved. I was so obsessed with finding the truth on my own. I have a book written about it that I hope to publish called Tonight the Lion Sleeps. It's a sad and terrible thing to live it, so cut the Goldman's some slack.

Wow, it never ceases to amaze me how incredibly ignorant the majority of the American public is. I occasionally read comments on line and it seems that reading for comprehension must not be a skill they teach in High School anymore.

To begin with it is stated in the article, very clearly I might add, that the Judge *ordered* that the book be monetized. For all those out there who do not understand the nuances of the English language that means that the book *has* to be published.

Secondly, the Goldman’s went to court, initially, to *stop* the book from being published because they did not want these details made public. This also would have had the net effect of preventing OJ from putting money in his own pocket and profiting from their son’s death.

Thirdly, a Civil Court found OJ guilty of the murders and awarded them the only justice a Civil Court can dole out; a settlement. I doubt that it has as much to do with money as it has to do with justice. If *you* were awarded a judgment by the court, no matter how big or how small, wouldn’t *you* want to collect on it. One would think you might.

Really, with minds like these voting for our future, I weep for our country.

You are all pathetic and you all deserve the OJ’s of the world.

Besides, without them, how would you ever bring any excitement to your drab, wretched, self involved, lives?

I totally feel sorry for the Goldman family. I have one son and I would be horrified if he died like that. I would want revenge, no matter how long it takes. For some of you people saying they should move on, is absolutely ridiculous. You obviously don't have any children. So you cannot relate to them. they are not doing this for the money, it is part of revenge. OJ is guilty as heck, you all know it. He got away with murdering two people. This is the only means for the Goldman family to exercise justice upon the man that was found liable in civil court.

Ex: joey in your trailer park shoots and kills your laying hen and it is the only thing you can eat since you are missing so many teeth and cant afford to buy food until you pay off your spinners you got from Rent-a Center. While it may not be a criminal act to kill a hen, a civil jury can find Joey liable and award you punitive and compensatory damages. You learn this in High School folks!

The problem here is that our judicial system has failed. Not on whether OJ was found innocent or guilty in a criminal court, but by the fact that someone can be found guilty in a Civil court AFTER they were found innocent in Criminal court. Even I, as a practicing Assist. DA Prosecutor, do not understand that. Any sensible person must ask themselves the question: "How is it that a court of law can find me innocent of a crime so as I am able to walk God's green earth a free man; yet another court can find me guilty, with and using the SAME evidence, with the only punishment in mind being monetary, and make me pay punitive damages for THE SAME CRIME I WAS ALREADY FOUND INNOCENT OF ?"

Nobody, in the right mind, can say that is a fair and just judicial system. It is hypocritical, at best !!

I have not walked in their shoes, therefore cannot feel their pain ... of which, i hope they find some way to heal.
BUT ... "the system" has allowed this to carry on. Innocent means innocent ... until there is money involved, and then someway, somehow ... well, i think you already have the idea.
