I was in the same boat for many years. I had respect for vegans and vegetarians, but I never seriously considered becoming one. After 40 years I finally began to realize just how unhealthy I had become. I only wish I had become vegan years earlier. I enjoy food more now than ever before. Really, I do! I lost over 40 lbs. I go on twenty five mile and longer backpacking trips (could barely make it a mile with no backpack at age 38). I bike to work and back 20 miles every day. I only changed my diet. All of the exercise started after I lost weight and all ready felt much better. I did not exercise at all to lose weight.

Roast Dog Anyone?

You should become a vegan. Seriously. The longer you try not to think about these issues, the more harm you're doing to animals in the meantime.

I became vegan a year ago, because I realized that eating meat just didn't make any moral sense. Why should I pay someone to do something I couldn't and wouldn't do myself? It took me several uncomfortable months, but I can't imagine eating meat again.
