I am very upset about this subject. We are all human. I am a 57-year-old grandmother, businesswoman and a minister in my relegion. My comment is those who are overseeing the decision of yea or nay for Miss New Jersey, sould look to their own "party times" at a young age. My reaction to the photos was
"how silly". Friends and parties. The American Dream for college students of today. They are not in bad taste as far as a black mark for this young woman and I do not believe young people think that. My belief is that those who are behind this blackmail incident should be hung, not Miss NH.

As a parent of two college grads, I know that "good kids" have their crazy side. My daughter is on facebook, and they both have myspace accounts. A lot of those pictures can be racy....but, we were ALL that way, outgoing, silly, and a little crazy when we were 18-22. , and those of us in our 40's were raised in a much more conservative environment. TV and pop culture is laden with criminal and promiscuous innuendos, yet we think our "role models" should be stoic wall flowers who have never stepped out of line. It is sad that Miss N.J. felt she had to apologize for being a traditional college student. She reminds me of my daughter and almost every other college student I've met. I hope she takes the crown! I think this is all just rediculous. Nobody should be put under such constraints as to have to be imbarrassed for having fun with friends and enjoying harmless private moments cought in photos. While it's crazy that Amy had to do it at all, I think it was a great move for her to reveal the photos. To me, they were of a young, fun-loving girl doing what 95% of young women do. Leave her alone. And may the pathetic person who sent the photos in find a real life to live instead of trying to destroy someone else's.

I think this entire situation has been blown out of proportion and I applaud Amy for showing the pictures and taking a stand. She has done nothing wrong and I don't think she should even be embarassed. I think we've been manipulated by a deliberate strategy by her and her lawyer. If "THE" three pictures were the only ones shown, i.e., the one where one man is biting her breast, the one where a second man is feeling her breast and the third where she poses with her legs wide open, then many would agree, they're kinda INAPPROPRIATE for a pageant contestant. But because these three pics are tossed in with many benign pics, the "sting" is watered down in the public eye. Although I personally think there is nothing really wrong with the pics, if the judges think they're being manipulated, it might backfire on her. I think she has something to worry about, unfortunately.

I, along, with my mother, watched this morning for the big reveal of the "illicit" photos. After viewing the photos we both looked at each other and said "so what". She seems to be your average American girl hamming it up with her friends. There was no underage drinking, nude photos or drug use. This is a good lesson that actions have consequences. What she's doing is typical for a party girl and not shocking in that respect. However, she wants to be in a pageant that stresses a certain code of conduct that she has not abided by. She wants to have her cake and eat it too and if society let's her then how will she learn her lesson and how will other young women learn from her?

I live only a few minutes from Amy's hometown, and have watched this story closely and this morning I laughed when I saw the photographs. This is typical college behavior and unfortunately we just happen to be living in a time where all of this behavior is captured via photo or video and put up on Facebook. Yes, we need to watch what is on Facebook and MySpace, but she should not be penalized for the photos since she has been open with the public about them. Really, the photos are not that bad -- not the side perhaps a beauty queen tries to portray, though. And that points to the real fault: beauty pageants. Beauty pageants are very artificial. That is why they are dropping in popularity. They set artificial -- even harmful -- expectations. They demand perfection behavior-wise and appearance-wise that just don't overlay real life. This is a minor issue. Worse is the anorexia and bulimia the pageant cause and the expectaion that women must fit into a certain look. It is an awful double standard based on sex appeal that men do no have to suffer. The outside is only superficial. Real beauty is inside.

Ms. Polumbo is shown in the photos being sociable, which is part of what college is about. It is obvious from all the smiles in all the photos that these are of Ms. Polumbo and her friends having fun, and that is the sum-total of what these photos depict. That these photos were posted to a site where people share photos with others is a social convention of this age group; the internet and these social networking sites are just part of the landscape.

While some may denigrate these pageants and the participants, they are a method in which many young women have chosen to compete and that is their choice. To win in a state-wide pageant no doubt takes an enormous amount of dedication and effort, as does any type of competition. In that sense, these young women show that they are goal-oriented and have persevered though many previous pageants, which includes losing, from which they obviously learned, which demonstrates self-awareness, an analytical ability, and the ability to listen to others so they can continue. In that sense, these pageants are about anything but beauty, these pageants are about the participant's intellect, psychological, and dedication.

To summarize the above observations: These young women have spines-of-steel, amazing drive, and tireless dedication to a goal. Which in fact is what Ms. Polumbo is again demonstrating by confronting the issues raised by this incident, and therefore, her reactions substantiate the basis of her winning the Miss New Jersey title.

Showing Miss New Jersey's photos was seedy on so many levels. Who made the decision....the crew...the men in the control room....the weatherman....the anchor?

Like the airing of the Virginia Tech photos, this revealed how low NBC will go in their attempt to grab ratings. What kind of judgment is driving these decisions?

Hearing Miss New Jersey describe such pictures as "silliness" sends a dangerous message to impressionable kids. The rise in the raping of young girls has been linked to "Girls Gone Wild" videos. The behavior displayed in some of those photos plus alcohol is enough to cause young kids to lose their inhibitions when they need them most.

It is beyond disappointing to see a network which was once held in high regard being held hostage by low standards.

I would not care for my daughter to follow this as a role model of what pageantry represents. Both in the arena of pageants and also those guilty of the blackmail. While most of the photos are harmless enough, others are very close to crossing the line of what has traditionally been known as " Ladylike Conduct." While others feel that as times change we must change. Someone needs to set the anchor so to speak as to what is an is not acceptable and allow this standard to stand for a predetermined amount of time. This will give our society a greater chance to consider reprecussions of blindly accepting things simply because a some have either witnessed or participated in like conduct or activity. Those could be trying to validate their own past misconduct. So that now in the present they can say that they were just a little ahead of their time.

The pictures are racy enough to cause embarrassment, but not racy enough to eliminate her from the Miss America pageant. The pics were taken at a private party it appears, and she did nothing worse that millions of other college age kids have done for generations. The person attempting to blackmail her needs to face the music in a court room. My gut tells me an arrest is forthcoming in the near future.

On the list of things to be concerned with, this is what time, effort, and money was occupied with? As an American, I am actually a little insulted to be informed that on the list of things that are of "major importance" this made it to the first page. To Amy Pulumbo this should be an inconvenience. To the media this should be embarrassing. To the judging panel this should have never been released as an issue. All money made from this should be turned towards the resolution of real problems instead of trying to celebrate mediocrity, make ratings, or make a mountain out of a valley. I myself am amazed in the proof that the failure of people to mind their own business could allow something this benign to cause this woman or anyone around her any kind of pain. I admire the decision to bring the photos forward to end this. And finally, to anyone who view these photos as inappropriate in any way, think again after you eagerly watch anything violent on TV. Find a standard and stick to it, the double standard is what has stooped me to respond about this crap.

I find it funny that most people that have posted about this story so far agree that this is not a "newsworthy" story. However, so far there have been 125 (and counting)comments posted here! So seems to me people are talking about it (which means it must be somewhat "newsworthy"). When all the other topics on this page have less than 4 comments. Do I think this is a ridiculous story and there are many more stories much more "newsworthy"? Of course there are! Do I have an opinion about this story? Sure.

I think the major mistake that Miss NJ made was thinking that these photos would be "Private" after posting them on the internet. Should she be embarrased? I think I certainly would be. Especially if I had to go on national TV and explain them. I'm just glad my 11 year old daughter was not watching the Today Show with me to see those photos. Not that they were horrible pictures, just not the example I want my daughter to see as "acceptable" role model behavior for a grown woman. I'm not saying that Miss NJ shouldn't have fun with her friends in "Private". That's her business. But she needs to keep it "Private" and not post this type of activity on a website that she thinks is "Private" or not.

It is a different world in which today's young people live with the internet and EVERYONE should be extremely cautious in what they are posting out there. The one lesson I CAN teach my daughter out of all this is NOTHING is private on the Internet!

Has the media gone overboard in covering this? Yes! All done...let's move on please...

I can't believe she did NOT loose the crown. First of all, whether these guys were best friends, or theatre majors, or SNL poses, she STILL has a picture of one man biting her breast, a different man with his hand on her breast, a pose with her legs wide open...Er, I think her "explanations" were a lot of BULL! She's running for Ms America. Things have to be different for her. She has to live up to higher standards. To say "I've seen worse" or "this is normal behavior", again, not for someone running for Miss America. And you know what, how many of OUR bosses would hire us if they saw similar pics of US on the net? A LOT would not. I laugh how yesterday Al Roker said the pics weren't so bad. I was disappointed in his doing that. Would he want HIS daughter to pose that way? No! Can you really call a girl "virtuous" with pics like these? Isn't that what Miss America is supposed to be?
