As a kid, I thought Baseball Is a Funny Game was right up there with Huckleberry Finn and the Great Gatsby. I know Joe does a lot of philanthropic work and think he is a class act. I will buy his book. You are very lucky to have worked with Joe and enjoy the relationship you obviously have with him. Nice memories.

A Regular Joe

Joe was the sports person for TODAY.. and made us all fell great.. what a great guy and what a great attitude... something we all need more of today.

Today needs a great sports editor like Joe..

A Regular Joe

Some of my earliest memories of you (my mom) and your work were pretty much either stories you would tell about you and Joe or just pictures from your vast amount of sports trips of you and Joe (much like the ones above). You and Joe really go as far back as my mind can remember; nice to see some things never change, particularly great friendships.

A Regular Joe

Branch R. I think you make Joe a special correspondent. Unlike the a Bob Schieffer from the Eric Sevareid school of anchors emeritus, Joe has some fun in him. Your show needs more fun. With Joe's broadcasting background in sports, he can give that and much more. Put him on the air!

A Regular Joe

A class act is my first thought when I think of Joe Garagiola. As a youngster in the 70's and early 80's, I remember the NBC Game of the Week being an "event" that I looked forward to. Joe made it that way;if I remember correctly, he also appeared often on a show that was hosted by Johnny Bench(?) where kids were taught baseball fundamentals.

He livened up the game with interesting colorful points and a sense that he was there during all of his stories. Dizzy Dean this, Ted Williams that. Best of all as a Arizona baseball fan, I still have the opportunity to listen to him still as a part-time color guy during the diamondbacks TV games. Keep in mind that Joe's son, Joe Garigiola Jr. is currently Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations for Major League Baseball. As a GM for the Diamondbacks for years and up to 2005, he consistantly gave us fans a consistant winner along with a world series title. We do have a sense of respect for the Garigiola family here in Arizona.
