From TODAY correspondent Sara Haines This is my favorite time of the year. Even as all of us have left
home, we do things each holiday to maintain the Haines traditions. Since actress Keri Russell was
on TODAY this morning to talk about her new film , I thought I'd ask her what makes a holiday a Russell holiday. Here's what she told me:
From TODAY correspondent Sara Haines When shopping for multiple kids over the holidays, how do you maintain a sense of equality with gift-giving? TODAY toy expert Elizabeth Werner has some ideas. Here, she talks about family traditions at her house and offers ideas to keep the holidays special at yours.

Martha was on talking about
apple pies and Kristen to talk about
her latest movie , "Twilight: New Moon," and this morning the two Stewarts (no relation) took a moment to take a picture in our studio.
Matt Lauer had a tough time being the ultimate taste-tester in today's apple pie bake-off between Meredith Vieira and Martha Stewart. Here's how he made the difficult choice:

From TODAY correspondent Sara Haines TODAY show crew member and major Sandra Bullock fan Andy Ganzi had
an unexpected on-air exchange with actress Sandra Bullock on today's show. Yes, one of our own was called out by Matt Lauer during the segment - and I had to see if the embarrassment was worth the great reward.
From TODAY correspondent Sara Haines I saw a huge online response about the
newly-released guidelines about mammograms , so I
was interested to see how breast cancer survivor Hoda Kotb felt, considering her cancer was
discovered via an early mammogram.
Here's our behind-the-scenes chat:
Here's what Kathie Lee & Hoda discussed today:
Sandra Bullock was
on the show this morning to talk about her new movie, "The Blind Side."
During the interview, Matt pointed out that Bullock's character in the film has a striking resemblance to Kathie Lee Gifford.

From Jill Martin, TODAY fashion contributor The first day of
Ambush on the Road is in the books!
So funny... we almost lost Kerry before getting the chance to Ambush her as she was leaving for work when we arrived! Kerry's 11-year old son was in on the secret but her youngest wasn't (they were both less than thrilled to be woken up at 3:10 a.m.) People always ask me how I get the clothing on location. When women (and men) write in asking for a makeover we ask them to give us their sizes. I then go to Macy's and pull about 50 items that I think will work, and then I ship the box of clothing to the hotel where we are staying (which is usually 10 minutes away). We bring the clothing that morning when we Ambush. Today all the clothes were sprawled out on Kerry's son Mathew's bed while he went out with his dad and brother so we would have time and space for the makeover. They came home to a whole new mom. Oh! Gotta go. Plane leaving for our next locations which is ??? See you tomorrow! ...

Here's what Kathie Lee & Hoda discussed this morning:
From Rina Raphael If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Kathie Lee and Hoda should feel flattered instead of battered by all the spoofs of them “Saturday Night Live” has done. A new one aired live from New York over the weekend, once again showing our morning heroines – played by Kristen Wiig (as Kathie Lee) and Jenny Slate (as Hoda) – doing a rather boozy version of the chat that opens TODAY’s fourth hour.
But this time there was something new added: A spoof of “Everyone Has a Story,” the segment in which Kathie Lee salutes in song ordinary people who have surmounted extraordinary challenges. The real KLG had a few choice words to say about that, particularly when a clip ran showing Wiig-as-Kathie Lee crooning “Everyone Has a Story,” only to be vigorously pummeled by musical guests the Black Eyed Peas (Taboo even removed a shoe to get his point across).

In honor of Veterans Day, the video below of Capt. Andy Schmidt of Springfield, VA being reunited with his dog, Gracie, has been the latest viral sensation on the internet . Lt. Schmidt's wife, Jen, captured the moment in 2005 when her husband returned home after serving in Afghanistan. This morning, the clip aired on TODAY and, on Sunday, Schmidt will be on the show to talk about the heartwarming video.

On Friday’s show, we reported on a 24-year-old woman who claimed she was undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, even going as far as to shave her head and raise $10,000 for treatment costs. It was later revealed she was faking it — just to get some money for a boob job.
After the show, TODAY correspondent Sara Haines caught up with fourth-host and breast cancer survivor Hoda Kotb for her response to the astonishing story. Hoda admitted she was not only shocked, but nauseated by the news.
“The idea that someone would pretend to have [breast cancer] makes you just sick to your stomach,” said Hoda Kotb in a web-only video. “I can’t believe someone would do that." Watch the clip:

Sara Haines captures a fun moment with the "The Man Panel," gabbing about beauty queen Carrie Prejean’s heated interview on “Larry King Live” and what they look for in a lady ("when you are a good-looking woman, that trumps all ... if I found out any of you were serial killers, I'd still date you!").
Thankfully, TODAY style editor Bobbie Thomas pops her head in to remind everyone “Don’t listen to them! They don’t know anything.”

Here is what Kathie Lee and Hoda discussed this morning:
It’s well-known that Kathie Lee had a diverse and successful career before she jumped on the TODAY bandwagon. But who knew her resume included “singing germ killer”? During Wednesday’s chat segment, the fourth-hour host divulged a secret from her past: appearing in an uplifting Lysol commercial nearly three decades ago about the joys of spraying a bathtub with disinfectant foam. “How high-pitched was my voice!” she exclaimed as a clip ran. “And it was not a good hair day.

A man was accused of robbing a bank in Maine earlier this week. He got away with a sack of money, but eventually police made an arrest.
But it wasn’t really the crime that had the anchors talking; rather, it was the fact that the suspect is another addition to the growing list of Matt Lauer doppelgangers . “I’ve got three kids to feed,” Matt joked when he saw the image of the suspect. The resemblance was uncanny, and fodder for a few laughs at Matt’s expense. “The getaway car was driven by a Katie Couric look-alike,” Al quipped.
Ann took a jab too, saying, “The similarity wins by a nose.”
“That was uncalled for!” Matt responded.

From TODAY associate producer Shawna Thomas
The first text message I received this morning was from my fellow journalist and friend Matt, who lives in Washington, D.C. It said, “Shawna on the Today Show!!!!!” (That is a direct quote. There were actually five exclamation points, which means he was very excited because journalists never write that way.) After that, the flood of texts, e-mails, g-chats, Facebook postings and Twitter shout-outs started coming from friends and family as the show aired across the country and they got to experience Improv Everywhere’s "Food Court Musical 2."
Improv Everywhere (IE) is the brainchild of Charlie Todd who says it is “at its core, about having fun.” It’s also about creating a unique experience for those who are lucky enough to see the “mission” live.
