The naked truth about Meredith

This week the TODAY anchors have been paying tribute to the mentors who shaped their careers. It’s a serious subject, but not too serious for Jay Leno to have some fun with it on the “The Jay Leno Show” in a clip the hosts watched this morning.

“I’ve known Meredith a long time,” Leno said, poker-faced as clips of Vieira’s early days in TV began to play. “But I did not know this!” Suddenly an obviously much doctored clip from “Naked News” appeared, showing a very blurry image of Meredith supposedly au naturel.

“Just one month!” Meredith protested tongue-in-cheek as co-hosts Al Roker and Ann Curry roared with laughter.

“Who was your mentor, David Letterman?” Roker quipped.
