At the end of a segment this morning about Halloween decorations, an Ewok started having his own party. The clip has gone viral and we thought we would share it here.
Editor's Note: Those who prefer not to disillusion small children about the predilections of Ewoks are advised to exercise viewer discretion.

From TODAY correspondent Jill Rappaport In honor of Halloween, we are debuting Meow To Wow for all our feline lovers! Since we have had such a wonderful response to our monthly
Bow To Wow series (every dog we featured has found a loving home), we now are focusing on the cats that desperately need to get adopted, too.
The numbers are staggering -- approximately 25,000 cats and kittens end up at
Animal Care & Control of New York City every year! So it's time to try to lower those numbers, and in return, YOU can end up with the most adorable affectionate pet.

From TODAY correspondent Sara Haines I was laughing as I watched Jennifer and Alexis go back and forth during
their segment with Kathie Lee and Hoda. So, before they headed out, I got the chance to throw some questions their way. I wanted just a little more of the verbal ping pong...and, that is exactly what I got.

On Friday, Matt, Meredith, Ann, Al and the rest of the gang will have another amazing Halloween costume surprise in store for you. In past years, they've dressed as everything from classic fairy-tale characters to the cast of "The Munsters." Now, we're giving a clue for the 2009 Halloween extravaganza:

From TODAY correspondent Sara Haines After the Hulk got busted for
showing me his underwear (around 5:30 in clip) during Kathie Lee and Hoda's chat, his fans began asking about the color, type, etc. I was entrusted with this information, so I felt it unethical to repeat. Instead, I cornered him when he finished
his interview to have him shed some light on this question, as well a some others I snuck in.

Here is what Kathie Lee & Hoda discussed this morning:
From TODAY correspondent Jill Rappaport The sickening truth is that cancer can affect anyone, and our beloved pets are sadly no exception. But this summer Palladia arrived, making it the first approved cancer drug for dogs, aimed at those afflicted with mast cell cancer. This is incredible news, and it could be a blessing for so many animals all over the world.
With this FDA-approved drug that kills tumor cells and cuts off blood supply to the tumors, dogs may have a better chance of surviving the disease. "It's very non-invasive," said Ann Hohenhaus, staff oncologist at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. "The oral nature of the drug makes it very appealing to drug owners." When I went to the Animal Medical Center , I met with dogs afflicted with this disease and their owners. Knowing this drug is now available is helping so many owners breathe a sigh of relief, and so far it looks like the results have proven to be quite positive in several dogs. But only time will tell if this very important drug can really extend the lives of our "fur angels." As a major animal lover and owner of four dogs, I am just so elated that so many advances are being made in veterinary medicine that can hopefully give our pets more precious years -- which they so deserve, and we as their owners desperately need. Click here for more on the Animal Medical Center in New York City.

From Miranda Patterson, NBC News creative director In beginning to think about
A Woman's Nation , Maria Shriver's special report about the state of women today, I asked the women in my department, of all ages and career points, to finish this sentence: "Being a woman today means..."
The responses I got back from this small group were so intriguing that I cast a wider net. (I asked two friends, and they asked two friends, and...) Wonderful answers came flowing back, along with requests to hear what other women were saying. I'd like to share some of my favorites, and would love to hear your own thoughts.
Being a woman today means....
...opening your own doors. ...balancing choice with obligation. ...the world is yours...if you're bold enough to take it. ...Not expecting a thank you. You do something because either it's expected of you, 'cause no one else will, or you just want to.

Here is what Kathie Lee & Hoda discussed this morning:
What’s a gal got to do to get on the Emmy-winning NBC sitcom “30 Rock”? In the case of TODAY’s Meredith Vieira, pretty much anything. Interviewing “30 Rock” star (and executive producer, and head writer, and….) Tina Fey on TODAY Thursday, Vieira noted rather pointedly that NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams has grabbed a guest spot on the show this season, while Meredith’s own invite must have got lost in the mail. “I too love comedy, and I have a particularly strong relationship with your cast -- as you may or may not know,” Vieira pointed out to Fey.
Fey knew, all right: When her “30 Rock” costar Tracy Morgan appeared on TODAY last year, Meredith had locked lips with him in a faux display of passion that was, as Fey put it, “almost inappropriate.”
While Vieira maintained that she “would do more than that, if that’s what it took” to gain a guest stint on “30 Rock,” Fey bemoaned her own lack of steamy clinches on TODAY.
“Who do you want?” Meredith responded eagerly. “[Executive producer] Jim Bell? You want Al Roker?”
“I would take Al Roker,” Fey replied. Whereupon TV’s favorite weatherman stormed onto the set, dipped Tina’s head back, and pretended to give her a huge smooch. After the pseudo-clinch, Roker shook his head and bellowed, “Hoo-ha!”
“30 Rock” begins its fourth season at 9:30 p.m. ET Thursday, and while the show has long been a critic’s darling, it’s also picked up viewers every season.
“We feel very lucky – I feel we’re like in that movie ‘Final Destination’ and we somehow cheated death and it’s going to come find us,” Fey said.
Editor's note: Katie Meacham, a TODAY fan who watches the show every morning while getting ready for work, was featured in a segment with Al on Thursday . We asked her to tell us a little more about her battle with cancer. You'll find her story below.
My name is Katie Meacham and I am 26 years old. Last April I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. At the time, I handled the news fairly well as this was considered to be a very treatable and curable cancer. Two months into chemotherapy I found a new node in my neck. A CAT scan and second biopsy confirmed my worst nightmare – my cancer had grown through the chemo, something that happens to less than 4% of people diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The hospital where I was being treated told me there was nothing else they could do for me, so I temporarily left New York City and moved down to Houston, Texas, to become a patient at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital.

French Vogue is known for its wild, irreverent style and creative use of imagery, but when I caught wind of the controversy surrounding their latest issue, I felt compelled to reach out to allDAY readers for opinions on where fashion should draw the line — and whether this is crossing it: The October issue includes a spread of supermodel Lara Stone in blackface, which was a popular performance tradition used in 19th century minstrel acts that perpetuated negative stereotypes of African Americans. While French Vogue is no stranger to controversy (having recently featured photos of cross-dressing and faux pregnant women smoking cigarettes), many wonder if this bold move extends beyond artistic expression and could be interpreted as racism. Kathie Lee and Hoda announced today that they'll be in the pages of OK! magazine every week with a feature called "OK! Or Not OK!" In the inaugural feature, the co-hosts weigh in on the fancy footwear of the stars, from Suri Cruise (OK!) to Sophie Monk (not OK!). The newly-minted fashion critics admitted to being a little nervous about their new gig, wondering how people would take to their advice.
"Do people care what we think?" asked Hoda.
"I don't think so!" answered Kathie Lee.
Dear viewers ... you be the judge!
This morning, Kathie Lee and Hoda took a look at the evolution of their tresses through the years. As expected, there are both hair hits and mane misses (hey, the '80s took many fashion victims). What do you think? Which styles do you like best?

Matt has his share of lookalikes out there, both real and fictional. Yesterday, People magazine unveiled a photo spread that shows TODAY hosts Matt, Meredith, Ann and Al rocking funky ‘70s style. From Style Editor Bobbie Thomas From babies to cartoon characters, the dreaded self-portrait has prompted many to go to creative and elaborate lengths in order to avoid putting an actual photo of themselves on the internet. Having said that, a free and fabulous idea caught my eye while going through some pitches today. While cosmetic counters have always offered us a fresh face for a special occasion, they are now offering a makeover that will last long after the makeup has washed away! Select Estee Lauder counters across the country are giving free makeovers along with custom digital photos which they'll help you post online. Now you can get all glammed up and have someone (actually everyone) to show! So for everyone who has ever spent hours scanning picture folders looking for something to post, this seems like a great opportunity to put your best face forward! So say “cheese” and post your pretty pics below!

Here is what Kathie Lee & Hoda discussed this morning:
This week the TODAY anchors have been paying tribute to the mentors who shaped their careers. It’s a serious subject, but not too serious for Jay Leno to have some fun with it on the “The Jay Leno Show” in a clip the hosts watched this morning.
“I’ve known Meredith a long time,” Leno said, poker-faced as clips of Vieira’s early days in TV began to play. “But I did not know this!” Suddenly an obviously much doctored clip from “Naked News” appeared, showing a very blurry image of Meredith supposedly au naturel.
“Just one month!” Meredith protested tongue-in-cheek as co-hosts Al Roker and Ann Curry roared with laughter.
“Who was your mentor, David Letterman?” Roker quipped.
TODAY helped People magazine celebrate its 35th anniversary by re-creating the show’s set from 1974, and all four anchors got into the groove by donning '70s polyester and shaggy hairdos (check out those 'staches!). Here’s a sneak peek at the magazine spread, which goes on sale on newsstands on Friday. Far out!

Is Jay Leno a fan of Hoda and Kathie Lee? This morning, Whoopi Goldberg called during the show to clarify a
statement she made about the recent controversy surrounding Roman
Polanski.
Goldberg had said, "It was something else but I don't believe it was
rape-rape." Whoopi wanted to clarify
the comment and make it clear that she was talking about the legal
charge against Polanski at the time.
For more on the case, here is our report from this morning .
From Natalie Morales, TODAY host and national correspondent On Thursday we will be talking to Anita Tedaldi, a woman who adopted a child and then gave him up 18 months later. As horrible as that headline sounds, you realize how just complicated the situation was and how agonizing the decision to give up little “D.” was when you read Anita’s own account . It’s a piece that will bring you to tears. When that essay was first published in the New York Time’s Motherlode blog , many people accused Anita of being irresponsible for taking on more than she could handle, for not trying hard enough to make her adoption work (even though she writes about trying everything from months of therapy to bonding sessions with a psychologist, etc.). Several others, however, applauded Anita for her courage and the strength she showed in making what she felt was ultimately the best decision for the child. No matter how you feel about Anita's decision to terminate her adoption, her story is one almost every mother can relate to on some level. That’s because this is not necessarily about terminating an adoption as it is a story of a woman coming to terms with her emotions and accepting the fact she couldn't be the kind of mom she thought she would be to her adopted child. As much as we all like to think we can do it all, we’ve all had that humbling moment – or many humbling moments -- when we must recognize our own limitations. When was the last time you felt like you weren't a good enough parent? How often have you asked if you are doing the right thing, whether in loving or disciplining your child? CONTINUED >>
