Meredith graces the cover of Good Housekeeping

Don't sweat the small stuff -- those are the words of wisdom Meredith wants to pass on as a Good Houskeeping cover girl.

Meredith, along with Trisha Yearwood and Jada Pinkett-Smith, graces the cover of the September issue for a story on "what happy looks like."

Each woman shares her perspective on happiness and gives advice to women in their 30s, 40s and 50s.

Meredith, a "proud 55," told the magazine that being open to change can lead to happiness.

"I realize that even though I'm scared of it, change is a good thing," she said. "No matter how old you are, you can try new things at a time when a lot of people are saying 'it's risky at your age.' "

For Meredith, one of those big changes was coming to TODAY.

"It was the right change," she said. "It was a good thing."
