Everyone loves a good cup of joe.

But, let's face it -- it's always best to grab your daily dose of java with a good friend. And it's even better if you're with someone who has an interesting story to share!

Our anchors here at TODAY are lucky enough to interview some of the biggest newsmakers in the world, prompting this week's Getting to Know TODAY question: If you could have a cup of coffee with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?!

Be sure to post your thoughts below -- who would you choose to grab a cup of coffee with? Would you choose President Obama? Or maybe Kirk Cameron sounds like a good match? Don't forget to add your ideas for future "Getting to Know TODAY" questions as well. Hopefully we'll pick yours.

As always, check the allDAY blog every Tuesday to learn the latest answers to all your burning questions about the TODAY family!

Have a great week!

I would love to have a cup of coffee with my Dad.  He passed away almost 5 years ago.  I would love to get his take on how things in my life are going right now.
Mine would definitely be Benjamin Franklin. I have often wondered what he would think of the world today and what his little experiments with electricity turned into in the modern world.
Jillian Michaels. She has provided me with massive amounts of knowledge and knowledge is power. She has been accessible to people and has shown why she is the best in the business. Her DVD's, books and radio show have given me all the tools I need to lose weight. I've lost over 50 pounds and am healthier than I have been in a very, very long time. Having coffee with Jillian would be magic!
I would love to sit for a while with Ruth Graham.  She was a lady of grace, courage, faith, submissivness, integrity, wisdom, strength, and passion.  I think she was such a vital part of the Graham ministry because she kept the home and the family as a vital part of their lives.  She encouraged all of us to be wives that loved our husbands and love them in a way that launches them in the direction that they will suceed.  She taught us to encourage but also correct when needed.
She was a woman of great faith and integrity.
Ghandi.
If I could pick one person to have coffee with, it would be Sean Connery. Why? Because I believe him to be the consummate man. I would love to learn as much as I could before he died. It has been a dream of mine to meet him since my first James Bond move decades ago. If it were a woman (just to be fair), it would be Jackie O.
My dream coffee date would be my grandfather, George Mumphard.  He was the son of a Mississippi share croppers who were post-civil war slave children.  He didn't get a chance to the historic Barack Obama election, even though he headed his local community voting group and instilled in all of us the importance of exercising your civic duty (even @ 92).

He would have been moved to tears to see his inauguration.
I'd have coffee -- if I drank coffee -- with my mom, Nora Ferraro LaVia.  She died when I was 4 (I'm 46 now), and I've often wished for the chance to sit down a have a conversation with her, as I remember very little about her.
Without a doubt, R. Buckminster Fuller.  The legacy of creations he left the world have not been fully appreciated by most.
my husband and I pick each other since we are best friends as well as lovers.  You can't  get any better than that
I would definitely have lunch with Rachel Zoe. I would love to pick her brain about the world of fashion and hopefully get some good tips about my own wardrobe.
I would like to have coffee with Mahatma Gandhi and actually ask him details about how he did it.  What internal practices did he follow to keep him on the  straight and narrow?  How did he keep from getting discouraged while all the violence was going on?
I would love to talk to John Lennon.  Not only because I was a fan, but because I think he had a brilliant mind. Would have loved to pluck it.
I would love to sit down and have a cuppa with David Bowie.  That man is a true genius and has inspired my life in so many ways.
Coffee with Jesus. Yes, that one. Because i have somes questions for him.
I would love to meet Donnie Wahlberg. He is not only a great actor and performer he is a well rounded person. He does everything writing, producing, and so much more. I would love to meet him and ask him what inspires him to do what he does. I went to a few of the new kids on the concerts and seeing him up on that stage is something special. He loves and belongs up there and it shows. He inspires me everyday to be the best no matter what Im doing. And I want to thank him for that.Love you Donnie.
I would loved to have had dinner with John F. Kennedy Jr.  The man had so much to give. He was young, vibrant, and so personable.  I would have loved to have discussed his childhood, and what he wanted for his future.  He would have put me at total ease. what a gentleman.
I lost my Mother suddenly in 2004 and have never gone a day without thinking of her..I find myself soaked up into these thoughts of her last moments and wishing I could have been there to be there for her. She would be the one person I'd share that cup of coffee with to see if she could answer the questions that are crawling through my mind everyday & also to share her with my thoughts and hoping I could feel some sort of relief that she is ok and that it's ok for me to not keep feeling so quilty I wasn't there for her. She was my best friend & that void has yet to be filled again and honestly I don't think it ever will be. I miss her so much. Theresa Cunningham
I would pick Jane Austen since I always wanted to know what she looked like before she got older and sick.
My dear, departed grandmother because I had so much left to learn and I have so much to tell her.
Ann Curry and not just because she is on the Today show but her passion for true journalism and on reporting things that really matters like issues on women and children in Africa, Middle East etc.. Yet she make sure she is having fun with simple things on her job rather than getting caught up on materials. She is an inspiration to me and if I am ever half the journalist that she is, I know I have at least made a little difference in this world.
I would love to have a cup of coffee with my mother-in-law, Helen. After a brave battle with cancer, she died two years before my husband Bob and I met in 2003. Bob and his mother were not just son and mother; they were best friends. Since his father died when he was 6, Bob and Helen had an unbelievably special and close bond. In fact, he quit his job in 1999 and moved across the state to care for her. Although his stories and memories of her now help me to know the person she was, I stil feel as though I missed out on knowing the person who was the biggest influence in my husband's life. I would cherish just having five minutes to meet Helen and have coffee with her.
Christopher Walken.  The man is simply genius.
I would love to sit down and enjoy a decadent cup of coffee and a great conversation with Warren Buffett.
Obama would def. be a good pick, but I think I would rather have one w/his wife or his girls. Wives and families of the Pres. can tell more about life at the White House then the Pres. can. My 2nd pick would be Jackie O. She was a big influence in fashion, but also knew what was going on with her husband, while maintaining a home life many women to this day strive for. I think Michelle Obama is alot like her as well as being a role model for the black community. Black women look up to her and white women want to be her. You dont get better than that.
I would love to have coffee with JK Rowlings! She overcame circumstances in her life that came as she approached middle age. Her steps out of her circumstance and into her dreams prompted a change in the literary culture of a generation. It is amazing and admirable to me.
Even though I don't like coffee. If I was to have a cup with anyone dead or alive, I would have to pick John Lennon. He was a fascinating person, and he was my favorite Beatle. I would have so many questions to ask, he would get a headache.
Oh this one will take some time... I'll have to get back to you on it.

But, I have to say, I loved Al Roker's choice of President Obama and Rush Limbaugh! TOO FUNNY!

Love you guys, have a great week! I'll think on this one and come back.
I would have a cup of coffee with my grandmother, who passed away when I was 12.  She loved coffee and would fix me milk, coffee and sugar to drink with her when she had coffee.  Of course, I now love coffee, too.  Maybe that is why, it makes me think of her.
i would love to have coffee with barbara walters she is a very interesting woman and all the stars she has talken to over the years she can tell the stories i respect barbara and the work she does.and the view is great.never a dull moment.thanks barbara
                 sicerly hope hovan
I would have a cup of coffee with my great great grandfather on my maternal grandfather's side. He came to America with my great great grandmother and my great grandmother when she was very young. They were forced to change their name when they entered the country and I cannot find any record of them now. I would love to know about his family and my great great grandmother's family. Where in Poland they came from and why they left to come to America.
Alive: Ann Curry! She's one of the most intelligent, adventurous and interesting people in all of media.
Dead: Elizabeth I. Her life is facinating; from her upbringing to her reign in England.
My grandfather. He passed when I was a teenager, and I feel like I never took advantage of how wonderful he was. Everything was about me, me, me. You know how it is when you're young. I wish I would have taken more time to ask him questions about his life and just spend quality time with him. He was an incredible man. Miss you, Grandma Max.
I would like it to be Shirley Temple I grew up on watching her movies, if it was not someone famous then it would have to be my Grandma she was the light of my life I miss her greatly.
I'd like to have a cup of coffee with Jesus (I guess we'd be sharing a glass of wine) and I would simply ask Him "why"?
Not to sound like every "girl" out there, but really, truly not in a star struck way, I would love to have coffee with Robert Pattinson. I find him quirky and intelligent to listen to and these qualities make him endearing to me. I have thousands of questions NOT pertaining to the whole TwiCraze.
That's easy...my Nana...  She may not have been famous, but she was pretty special to me :)
I would have coffee with my father. He died suddenly when I was only 21 and I would love to talk to him again and let him know everything that is going on in my life right now. I'd have a few questions for him too.
Hands down, I would pick Jimmy Buffett.  I have been a fan since before it was cool and hip to be a Jimmy fan.  I have been to at least 1 concert and sometimes 2 or more every year for the past 30 years.  It is my escape from reality; my substitution for therapy. I would really like to meet him and chat over a cup of coffee - hell, I'll even buy!
I would enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation with Robert Redford, Paul Newman, Pres Obma and Joe Staley...R. Redford because he is kind to the earth, Paul Newman becauae of the stories the 2 could tell, Pres Obama would just be articulate and bright enough to add to the conversation, and Joe because he was taken 40 years ago at a very young age after he returned from Viet Nam and we had not yet spent enough time together....
Walt Disney would be my choice to have a cup of coffee with. His stories from the past combined with his view of the future would be fascinating.
I'd have a cup of joe with Nicole Brown Simpson because we'd finally get the answer to one of pop cultures greatest mysteries! Once that's out of the way we can talk gossip and fashion:)
I actually think about this question a lot. Granted I've never included a cup of java in the scenario, but I always wondered if I could talk to any person who would that be.
While I considered at first people who were alive, given that the people who I would want to talk to I would know something about. I then realized that given I'm an extreme optimist there's still a slight possibility that I could still have that conversation with a living person.
So leaving my desire to chat up JK Rowling or Ridley Scott for a later date. I moved onto people, or a person in this case that I'm sure would not only love a cup of coffee but a sturdy park bench to sit down and talk, given that a fluffy white cloud doesn't nearly offer enough support. This person being the first queen of comedy Ms. Lucille Ball.
While other kids were glued to the TV watching Bert and Ernie in their latest roommate squabble, I was tuned into Nick at Nite watching this insufferable redhead (although I didn't buy that her hair was really red, until years later when I saw her in Yours, Mines and Ours) get herself in quirky situations and then have to explain herself to her funny speaking husband.
Since then, I have seen Lucy in all episodes after her self-titled show, in all of her movies, in memoirs and tributes and there's something about this lovable, laughable women with the raspy voice and the penetrating blue eyes that entices me to want to know more.
People like her have a story to tell. And in my limited experience and understanding of the art of comedy, it seems to me that comedians although play the goofball are usually hiding behind the tears of a clown. It's that sultry history and lifestyle that intrigues me.
Besides getting to know her as a person, If it were possible for me to really have a cup of coffee with her, it would allow to go to a different place in time.
Through her I could experience the roaring twenties, the erection of the empire state building, or VJ day. But most importantly I'd be with Lucy. I understand the facade and I truly believe that the type of knowledge that she possessed transcends all generations.
I know it sounds so cheesy, but I would kill to have a cup of coffee with my grandmother, "Memo".  She passed away when I was 16 and I am constantly being told that I take after her. I didn't drink coffee when she passed away and now that I do, I would love to sit and talk over one now.  She would now be a great grandmother and I would love to catch her up on all that has gone on in my life.
I would choose to have coffee with my Daddy one more time. He has been gone since 1985, and I would love to hear his thoughts and advice and for him to see how his grandsons turned out since he really did not get to know them and a hug would be the best. Since he is not here I think Ann Curry or Al Roker. They have a great outlook on life and would be wonderful to listen to what they have to offer.
If I could have a cup of coffee with anyone, dead or alive, I think I would choose my Daddy.

Mama died when I was 3 years old and Daddy died when I was 13.  Although I am very aware of the wonderful influence he had on my life in those short 13 years, I would really like to talk to him on an adult level.

Isn't it odd how much wiser we realize our parents are once we've "grown up"?
I would love to have a cup of Joe with Marylin Monroe. Just to sit with such a sweet lady and maybe dish a little gossip!
Alive: Tom Brokaw. I think it'd be fun to pick his brain about all of the events that he's witnessed.

Dead: One more conversation with my grandmother would be nice, just to hear some more stories.
If I could sit down with anyone, and have a cup of coffe with them, I would have to pick Jordan Knight or Donnie Wahlberg. Jordan because the mixed emotions I would be feeling. He is an idol of mine from teen years, and his intellagence would keep the adult in me in a very nicely balanced rollercoaster lol.He is an insparation in the rollercoaster world we live in also. I can imagine a conversation with Jordan would be a fun and invigerating experence. I believe He would be easy to be yourself around. I love anyone who can enjoy life and be playful and serious all at the approprate time. I see the teenager in me bubbling up througout our coffee while the adult in me steadly tries to settle my nerves and ask the questions I really want answered. Donnie because he is an insparation in so many ways to me, a key factor in giving me the courage to take the steps I need, to live life to the fullest I can. He has taught me to show the love to everyone I come into contact with everyday and to not hate. Also to be the insparation in my own life and never hate myself as long as I know I gave it my best and tried to surpass my own goals because we are the only one stopping ourselves in living our own dreams to the fullest.
Julie Andrews. I would love to hear all of her stories and just to be in her presence would be fantastic.
