Shia LaBeouf's 'love connection'

It was one of those moments when cynicism about Hollywood fades, outshone by the light in a young woman’s eyes.

Shia LaBeouf was in Studio 1A to talk about his new film, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” when Matt Lauer, mingling outside with the crowd in Rockefeller Plaza, spotted 20-year-old Samantha Previte from North Brunswick, New Jersey, a fan who was hoping devoutly to catch the actor’s attention, if just for a fleeting second.

Within moments, Samantha found herself in Studio 1A, where LaBeouf was talking to Meredith Vieira. Vieira yielded her seat to Samantha, who suddenly found herself face-to-face with one of the most popular young leading men in Hollywood.

“I’ve been planning this all week,” exclaimed Samantha. Animated valentine hearts were almost visibly dancing around her as she pointed to her cheerful floral skirt. “I bought this... I can’t believe this!”

“You look great,” LaBeouf said gallantly.

Gently prompted by Vieira to ask the 23-year-old actor a question, starstruck Samantha admitted, “I don’t know what to ask... I’m in shock.” But then she recovered enough composure to seize the opportunity and inquire, “What kind of girl are you interested in... honestly?”

“All kinds,” LaBeouf replied suavely. “What are you doing the rest of the day? My day is boring."

This was a lovely moment.  My 12 year old daughter who watched with me was in awe.  She loves the Today show, and after spending 9 days in Hawaii with a friend and her parents who do not watch Today, she told me to wake her early on Tuesday so she could watch with me.  And, moments like this are why this show is so appealing.  Thanks for helping make my daughter interested in the news.

After watching this I thought what an incredible and charming gentleman Shia LaBeouf is - a great role model! AND since then I have been curious - did she take him up on his offer for "the rest of the day"?

I thought this was so sweet!  What a wonderful young man.  I am not a big fan of Transformers and my kids are still a little young for it (although I watched the old series when I was kid), but I may go see this one.  He was such a gentleman and truly made this young lady's day.  I was impressed.

Oh wow! I gasping the ENTIRE time watching her talk to Shia... OMG, what a rare and AWESOME opportunity. I wish I was her so that I can tell all my friends that Shia was flirting with me and actually have PROOF! Wow. Lucky girl, indeed!

Shia is such a gentleman, and seems so down to earth! Samantha is lucky to have met him, and I must say that I'm a little jealous! I hope to meet him one day. I saw Transformers opening night, and Shia did an amazing job! All i could say while watching this was AWWWWWH!!!
