I found this blog just after sending an e-mail, so this is a repeat of that e-mail:

I just watched Matt’s interview with Captain Phillips.  I’m still fighting back the tears as I attempt to type.  I was deeply impressed with the courage Captain Phillips showed in the face of danger beyond what any of us could even imagine, his concern for the safety of his crew, and his confidence in our Armed Forces, and his cool thinking that assisted the Navy SEALS in rescuing him.  I am also impressed by his modesty and matter of fact acceptance of what he went through.  I feel ashamed for wallowing in self-pity over personal and health problems, while this man faced death with amazing coolness and courage.

When we look up the word “hero” in the dictionary, we should find a picture of Captain Phillips.

Thank you for a great story handled in a caring and moving way.  It is just the kind of great reporting and compassion I have come to expect from Today and the entire Today crew.

Blessings for many more successful years on Today!!

I was in awe of the rescue of Captain Phillips . He is truly a hero to trade himself for the safety of his crew. I recently learned that the African American women escorting Captain Phillips  is a RearAdmiral  incharge of the fleet in the Indian Ocean, FYI
