Where In the World Would Meredith, Al and Ann Go?

We're just a few weeks away from the launch of our exciting "TODAY Takes a Vacation" series when Matt, Meredith, Al and Ann will travel all over the U.S. showcasing some of the most beautiful and affordable hot-spots in America.

Travel is nothing new to our TODAY family, especially to Matt who has spent the past 9 years trekking the globe during his popular "Where in the World" series. But, maybe next year, he'll leave the suitcase at home and send Meredith instead...where would she like to go?

In this week's "Getting to Know TODAY," we ask the TODAY family: If you were to embark on "Where in the World is Matt Lauer," what would be your first choice for a destination?

Be sure to post your choices below -- maybe you'd like to land in the same city as Al or suggest an exciting American landscape for "TODAY Takes a Vacation!" Don't forget to add your ideas for future "Getting to Know TODAY" questions as well. Hopefully we'll pick yours.

As always, check the allDAY blog every Tuesday to learn the latest answers to all your burning questions about the TODAY family!

Denver, Colorado of course! Looking foward to meeting you guys.
I THINK THAT THE TODAY CREW SHOULD GO TO VARIOUS "EXOTIC" LOCATIONS HERE IN THE USA, SAY MAYBE SOME OF THE NATIONAL PARKS: TETON, OLYMPIC PARK, EVERGLADES NATL PARK, JOHN PENNNYCAMP (SCUBA DIVE), SMOKEY MOUNTAIN PARK, VOYAGEURS, US VIRGIN ISLANDS, AND BLACK CANYON OF THE GUNNISON AND CRATER LAKE.  OR DESTINATIONS TO OUR NORTHERN NEIGHBOUR, CANADA.  GIVE THE FOLKS A DESTINATION CLOSE TO HOME AND MORE AFFORDABLE DURING THESE DOLLAR SQUEEZING TIMES.  ALSO TO PROMOTE SUPPORT THE NATIONAL PARKS SYSTEMS AND PROMOTE ECO FREINDLY IDEAS TO HELP PRESERVE THOSE PARKS.
Upstate SC and western North Carolina! we've got the best weather in the USA, waterfalls & mountains, national forests, riding & hiking & biking trails, flower gardens & arboretums and history and food and ... oh, just c'mon on down!
Come to Greenville,SC! We have a wealth of diversity and something to do for everyone.Parks and recreation to the arts, there is something affordable for anyone.

Cape Cod - come visit us this trip - we have wonderful beaches, great restaurants and lots to do and see. We look forward to seeing you soon.
For Meredith, I'd suggest she visit different Shopping Venues of the world!  For Al, different sites in the world, where the climate makes a big differenct in everyday life; for Ann, she should visit different locations offering physical challenges, like her hikes and drop falls, etc...

HI MATT

I THINK YOU SHOULD VISIT THE TOWN YOU WHERE BORN IN
st.louis missouri or kansas  city  missouri or somewere in iowa  there a great prison tour  in iowa  that i will be going too  it closed down
The wild , pristine Upper Penninsula of Michigan between Lake Superior and Lake Michigan . It's so beautiful and the people are wonderful . It's the best kept secret in the United States .
Hello Matt,
Why not go somewhere that not many people have heard of in the coutry. How about somewhere in the midwest, like Wisconsin, Iowa, or Missiouri. I live in in the tristate area of Wisconsin,Illinois, and Iowa. Not many people have heard of this quite out of the way place.
Why not go underwater -- some of the most untouched, unexplored areas and show the viewers what we need to be aware of...you just had jean michele cousteau on your show. Why not go with him? Traveling means we should learn about our surroundings, right?
In light of Matt's recent bike accident how about traveling to the top 10 bike trails in the U.S. Matt doesn't have to bike but his knowledge about the sport would make an interesting segment. (It could also be paired with top 10 river rafting trips. It is the season for rafting!)
Time for TODAY to venture west to the incredible state of IDAHO...and the snow capped peaks, crystal clear trout filled streams and pristine lakes (and NO, I DO NOT work for the tourism departtment...I am actually a city gal turned country/small town...came kicking a screaming leaving behind my beloved malls and Nordstroms!!!  And over the course of 24 years and many road trips, hikes and excursions hither and yon, have grown to deeply love this state and call it home...so...you have the official invitation to "COME ON DOWN" put up your feet and "set a wile"...watch the snow fly, the sun set, the elk cross the hillside or an eagle roost...you could do it all in an afternoon!  You may have heard of the famous Sun Valley Ski Resort nestled in the Wood River Valley in the heart of the Rocky Mountains...well, that's where we lived for 15 years and then the last 9 years, just down the road in Hailey, Idaho a small "bedroom" community that provides support services for the resort.  It's a gem as well...gotta do it!  Look forward to hearing from you!
I think Ann should go to Tibet, because she wants to go there and Matt & Al should go on a hunting safari in Africa, and Meredith should stay home & take care of the fort.
Tour du Rouge, 6 day bike ride from Houston to New Orleans raising money for the RED CROSS chapters depleted from the past years of hurricanes.  May 3-8th, 2009.  We'd love to have you visit us along the way.
I would like to invite all of you to Claremore, Oklahoma--home of Will Rogers. Since he "Never met a man he didn't like" you could do an uplifting story, which everyone could use these days!
Upper midwest such as North Dakota and the great city of Fargo. It is not always about scenic places(although there is great scenery in ND) and things to do in specific areas of the country. How about getting to know the people and the heart of the people. You won't find better, more hard working,  nice and genuine people anywhere.Give it a try!
GO to Boston!
I think that Boston would be an excellent place for the today show anchors to travel to because they would have such a fun time and put on a great show for America!
Touring the US and meeting the everyday people who make up this wonderful country we live in. Stopping along the way to visit the amazing parks, rivers and history America has to offer.

Why not have a viewer along who could document the journey..what an amazing experience for that viewer....!!??
Well, if you truly want an experience of a life time,a story to tell your grandchildren,a story to journal, & pictures to pass down through the centuries.Than you simply must come to Luray Va.& visit a quaint little village offering the HUGE Luray Caverns.....The sight to behold.a place like no other.
Have I caught your interest? cause if caves aren't your fancy, there ar antique shops too many to mention.
Skyline Drive is just minutes away.Hiking, deer, even a Bear may cross your path.
Hope to see you here.... Soon
Lizzy
Go to Branson, Mo!!! Everything for everyone of any age is there. All kinds of outdoor sports (boating, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, biking, caves, etc.),shopping galore (outlet malls and shops, crafts, The Landing), entertaining shows for all ages, great food, amusement parks and plenty of activities for children. The best thing is that the prices are great on everything! In this economy that is a real plus!  Come on down y'all! Kim
PLEASE go to Muskegon, Michigan...it is my home town and a beautiful place on the shore of Lake Michigan (the best kept secret in the US).  First, Michigan needs the economic boom from tourism more desperately than almost anywhere in the US.  Second, you rarely travel there and when you do you go to Detroit which is not typical of what Michigan is like. Third, it would be a great example of an affordable place to go for beach/water sport activities like boating fishing, even mountain climbing (in the UP), and of course there are a slew of winter sports too!  I think it gets overlooked and the whole western shorline of the state is fantastic.  And the golf is GREAT Matt!
Go to Point Pleasant, WV.  It is a beautiful town.  I went to school there for 10 years.
I'll chime in with the Michiganders on the list:  Come to Michigan! I've lived in about 15 states, 7 countries, travelled in about 30 countries and it's Michigan where I plan to retire.  Seriously!  Beautiful, affordable, solid and grounded people, gorgeous weather (after a Michigan winter, nothing beats spring!)

There's alot more to Michigan than Detroit, autos and the RedWings. It's the upstate areas that will really wow the Today crew and viewers. Incredible west coast - Sleeping Bear Dunes is jaw dropping amazing, fishing, hiking, waterfalls, scuba, Mackinac (pronounce MAC-kin-naw)Island, Drummound Island, the thumb, Lake Huron coast,... and of course, the UP (Upper Pennisula).
