What a wonderful compliment for Mr Lauer and what an honor to be chosen for this job. I look forward to watching the interview. Matt Lauer would be my only choice to conduct the first interview with our new President, Barack Obama. Way to go Matt !!
Matt Lauer is a great journalist.  He will conduct the interview the way it should be.  He'll ask the hard questitons and then ask the President questions that will make the American people laugh along with the both of them.  Did President Obama ask Matt to stick around and watch the SuperBowl?  That would be cool...
Matt: First let me say that, I hope we do not forget who got the first up close interview with the President, our own Al Roker. I know how excited you must be, a very honorable moment for you. Your children would be so proud of you. I would be honored,If my son can meet the President someday. I am sure you will be a little nervous, but as always you would ask the tough questions, and humour us as well. I am not a sport fan, but I would not miss this interview for anything. Don't make it all about work, enjoy the moment as well. Make History for the Today Show.
Best of luck to you. You are good at your job. The only other person I would pick for this interview would be Ann Curry.
Remember the world would be listenting to your interview with our president. Please ask about paying so much tax especially us as a single mothers who have our children in college. It is very expensive for us.
Enjoy make history.

Congratulations, this will be an incredible honor. I enjoy watching the Today Show everyday. Best wishes and enjoy the moment.
Two of my favorite people on the same screen together...what a bonus....
Here's hoping he refers to his as Mr. President instead of 'Mr. Obama'.
Congratulations Matt, with you doing the interveiw I can't wait to watch it . Please ask President Obama about what kind of help he will implement for the disabled . Thank you
Hey Matt,
I was wondering how soon you'd be given this opportunity to interview the new President. I know it will be a great moment for all viewers. Have fun!!
Matt!!
   Life is Good!
Then, NBC should reward you with a trip to the North Pole, or South Pole.  Be sure to take your sticks, and go hit some.

I hope Matt addresses him correctly. I noticed that he still calls him Barack Obama instead of saying President Obama. I feel its inappropiate and disrespectful.
Congradulations, Matt,  Now ask our president if he is willing to forgo his new Presidential Helicopter being built by the Brits with cost overruns to the taxpayers of over 11-13 Billion Dollars.  Hope NBC NEWS will check this out.
Hey Matt, U DA MAN. CONGRATS
Congratulations Matt! This is indeed a great honor. I have watched you for years and you always do a great job!  Please remember to give the President the respect he deserves by addressing him as President Barack Obama.  I heard you earlier this morning on Today refer to him just as Barack Obama. Thanks!
Ask President Obama why we shouldn't pass the Fair Tax bill S1025 and HR25 that is in Congress.
Congratulations to Matt!  We will definitely include watching the interview in our Superbowl party!  Please take Al with you though, he was so much fun to watch at the Inauguration... so clearly thrilled to be there!

I am so happy for Matt, I just love him, and he is the main reason I have continued to watch the Today show. I feel he is a great person and I have really enjoyed his segments on "Where in the World is Matt Lauer". I also feel he is the best person to do this interview with the new President Obama. I know he considers it to be an honor also.

Neat!!!! the today show is informative with good taste. Two handsome men across from each other
coffee will be SWEET for the ladies that day.
when you interview the president ask him when he pledged to never sign a bill that is filled with pork then why is he pushing the stimulus bill, also go over the bill on one of your shows with your viewers and show them where the money is going.
I will certainly be watching.  I watch you every morning - I know you will do a great job.  Please ask the president to hurry that stimulus package along.
Matt,
I look forward to your interview with our new president......as always, you will do a great job!  Congratulations are being chosen for this great honor!
Look forward to watching two of my favorite young men interact with each other.  You two seem to be very sophisticated, genuine and sincere--- these are traits that are rare these days.
Good Job Matt! At least you didn't get knock out from this one like you did for the air line pilot. You are my favorite Matt! Please remember to address him though at Presdent Obama! That is his title and he deserved that! Thank you!
Matt
Could you ask the president why we the people are not getting the bail out money. Congress has proven time and time again that pork rules the day.The American people know whats needed to get us out and its not a 600.00 check when gas was a hundred a tank. Please ask him to consider letting the people spend their own money.
Matt, way to go!  You'll do a terrific job as usual.  Try,though, to get into the habit of addressing him as President Obama.  Your fan, Diana
How cool that you get to interview the president. Are you also going to watch the superbowl with him?Have fun. Look forward to seeing it.
Matt... Any plans to ask Obama about his pork-filled "stimulus" bill? Plans to ask him out spending $650 million on TV converters is stimulus for the economy? Ho spending millions to fund abortions here and abroad is stimulating for the economy? You know what I'm saying... any plans to act like a News Man and ask probing questions that are of importance to the country?
Hi Matt, You've heard of Joe, the Plumber, well, I am Therese, the SAHM (Stay-At-Home-Mom).  I am excited you're interview President Obama and would like you to share with him what I have written on my blog:
I was watching the news yesterday, and will continue to watch the news today, and I can't believe that we pay hard-earned tax dollars to these 'people' on Capital Hill. They want to stimulate the economy, get us out of this recession before it turns into a depression, but they are slugging through the mud over stupid stuff.
My suggestions are: Bring jobs back to the good-ole U.S.A.!!!
1) With all the foreign countries out there, working for U.S companies and screwing things up (e.g. lead in paint or lead in toys - hence, huge recalls), why not bring back manufacturing here into the U.S. where production can be monitored and regulated (as well as prosecution for violators)? It would stimulate jobs which has a domino affect to spending and recovery for the economy.
2) Tax cuts: Put in the stimulus package that tax cuts will be given to those corporations that have ALL of their production and employees here in the U.S., or that have ALL U.S. Citizens as employees. And that if they are U.S. companies that are foreign-based (such as stock firms/brokers in Canada, Europe, Asia, etc.) that these corporations are required to have a minimum 2/3 employees that are U.S. Citizens.
3) Increase Taxes: I think corporations that ship their work to foreign countries, because of cheaper labor, need to have their taxes increased. These corporations take jobs away from U.S. Citizens and often times decrease the quality of the products/services produced (again, e.g. lead in children's toys).
4) Give Penalties: Give penalties to those companies that can't be compliant with the above three things by June, 2009.
5) Withhold Bail-Out Money: If you're a company or business that isn't compliant with the top three things, then you shouldn't get bail-out money. Why should our tax dollars go to bail-out a company that isn't employing U.S. Citizens?
And that is just a small part. I mean, really, how hard can this be? K.I.S.S. People!! That is what I say.
Some say that this may impede foreign relations... hhhhmmmm... How can we worry about 'foreign relations' when we can't even take care of things in our own country? It's like us moms... If we are sick, the household pretty much falls apart. A sick mom cannot take care of her children if she can't get out of bed. It is time to take care of this 'Mother Country' otherwise this household, we call The United States of America, is going to fall apart.
Thank you!
Matt,

I am married to a stockbroker of 25 years.  He works extremely hard and many hours.  Over the last 3 months he hasn't slept and lost quite a bit of weight.  He doesn't get bonuses, just straight commission.  It's very frustrating to hear O'Bama give a bad wrap to the whole industry for a few bad apples.  I don't suppose O'Bama would consider giving up his salary and/or bonus.
This couldn't be more of deserved honor for Matt.  Been watching for years and years.  Anxious to hear about the unemployment and stimulus of the job market as I have been unemployed since June.  I would like to see more community involvement, plans to give back to each other, use chamber of commerce's to stimulate revenue by making that community accountable for purchasing services and products from their own, ie:  Municipalities should use local marketers for their pr, stay within the community for product sales, such as mom.pop shops to have shelf time in local Acme's and Shoprites, etc.  We need to take care of ourselves like we did during the 29 depression which lasted many years, but only survived due to taking care of our own.  I am confident that Matt will address the right issues that we all want to hear about,  Good for you and the whole Today show team!
Anybody know what time this interview will be aired before the super bowl?  Love Matt and cant' wait to see what a great job he will do. Way to go Matt!!!
Matt, I knew you would land the interview with President Obama. You are a class act!  Congratulations!
Hi Matt!
I've been watching The Today show for 35 years and feel that you're part of my family. So proud of you for landing this awesome interview! Remember to address him as President Obama. Bon chance!
hi matt, can you ask the president to watch the football or election ballot who's winning.
Matt -

Congratulations!  I am confident that our President will be as articulate as usual and you will do your usual professional job. Many people feel that he is the savior the world is looking for. He is certainly an inspirational man and I feel we are lucky that he is in this position.  But in truth, more than a savior, we Americans need to save ouselves and each other from many forms of malaise. Sure, we need leadership from him.  But how about courage and compassion and the willingness to fight for what is good about this country from ourselves.  So I would ask him one question if this were my interview:  Mr. President, the American people are gravely concerned about our situation and are waiting for your instructions: please tell us what we can do to help ourselves out of the mess - specifically - and don't be afraid to ask us to sacrifice - specifically - for the greater good.  My belief is that if that question it will be answered the world will take notice. Thank you.
I believe it will air at 5 pm ET
I wonder if President Obama would consider handing the 44th Superbowl Trophy next year to the winner of the  game? There will never be another time in history where the Presidents # will coincide with the Superbowl #. 44th President and the 44th Superbowl. Please think about it Mr.President if you get this message.
