Doting on Dustin Hoffman

Dustin Hoffman stopped by this morning to discuss with Matt his new film, Last Chance Harvey. And as usual, he was greeted by the crew with a standing ovation. WATCH VIDEO

Hoffman is a big favorite around here, because for the past several years, the day after he has appeared on the show, he has sent food to our studios for the crew to enjoy (and if there's one thing that the crew loves, it's free food). (Watch his past appearances HERE, HERE, and HERE.)

This time, though, Matt decided to turn the tables on the Oscar-winning actor, providing him with a selection of delicious appetizers during the segment. Hoffman not only was well-fed, but as he pointed out, he hates doing interviews and got to spend half the segment chewing rather than talking.

Last Chance Harvey opens in limited release on Christmas Day and will appear in theaters nationwide on January 16.

For the record, here are my five favorite Dustin Hoffman films:

1. All the President's Men
2. The Graduate
3. Rain Man
4. Wag the Dog
5. Marathon Man

(Papillon would also make the list, but it's more of a Steve McQueen movie than a Dustin Hoffman one.)

** Also special commendation for his role as Mr. Bergstrom in the "Lisa's Substitute" episode of "The Simpsons."

Rain Man and Midnight Cowboy are my favorites. Of course I fell in love with Dustin during 'The Graduate'!
Your choices are pretty good but have you ever seen Midnight Cowboy. I'd dfinitely have to rate that in the Hoffman top five; in fact, it's in my top five all-time favortites.
What a very classy man!  It's so very nice to see that a man in such a position will acknowledge the other jobs that make a production work smoothly!  Hurray for Dustin Hoffman!
I once heard of a time when he was waiting to meet with some folks at Sony Pictures in the Executive Dining Room. Since they were running late, he sat at the piano and played for the diners and entertained until his friends arrived. One very talented class act!
