KLG returns to her musical roots

Kathie Lee took to the microphone this morning to perform an original song she co-wrote for TODAY’s new series, “Everybody Has a Story.” Though KLG started her show biz career as a vocalist, she was quick to point out she no longer sings for her supper – and that her lyrics were originally intended for Tony Bennett (aren’t they all?). But she couldn’t fool us with her humility: her skillful and heartfelt performance made it obvious she’s a pro.

For the “Everybody Has a Story” series, TODAY asked readers to send in their amazing, inspirational stories. Starting next Thursday, we’ll feature the first of the finalists who received an all-expense paid trip to New York City, where his or her story will be made into a song performed by a Broadway star in Studio 1A.

You and your pianist did a faboulous job singing.  Kathy Lee you should sing more otfen than you do.  You are talented girl.  NBC has done a wonderful thing in hirin you for this time slot.  You and Hoda Rock.  And as I said earlier, I hope eo hear you sing again

This was a sincerely touching song...best of all Kathie Lee delivered it beautifully.  Her voice is stunning, and she is so deeply genunine.  I have watched her for many years, and she remains true, deep, and bonded/committed to whatever she supports.  
With respect to age, as women, she is a role model that we can all take some reflection from.  She is a lovely, fun, thriving woman.

I still have all of your "albums" (I'm getting old) that you gave me years ago in Woodland Hills! Hearing your voice again today brought back so many memories, you have truly been blessed. The words to that song are such a life lesson to our children, I was wondering if you were thinking of them as you were sending your son off to college- I would love to hear from you, it's been a long time. Joey is still delivering babies. He is almost reached 10,000. I am busy staying home, raising 4 kids- Take care-

I love this series of the show.  I submitted an essay and I'm wondering if all winners have been contacted. Did I understand Hoda to say that the winners would be announced on Monday?  Kathie Lee made the comment that hundreds of songs had been written so that sounds as if all winners have not been contacted.

   WOW!!!  Kathie Lee, you were magnificent. I never realized how talented you were until I began watching this show.  Koda is the best and I wish you two could just interact a little more.  I feel as tho' I am the third person in the 'coffee' group.  Beautiful song. Maybe you could do this a little more often (like everyday).

Dear Ms. Gifford,
I just played my tape from yesterday show and I heard your song for,"Everyone Has A Story". Your song was touching and I cried all the way through your singing.  I also sent in my story and I was wondering if you thought about making a CD with all the songs from this contest. I would love to get a CD and share it with my support group. I think it would help everyone who is going through something in their lives.  Ms. Gifford please continue to sing more on the show.
