Wet and wild anchors

It was the moment we were all hoping for.

Matt, Meredith, Al and Ann had walked out to the Olympic Green to check out the fountains that come on out there every now and then, and the fountains didn't come on.

So during a commercial, we all had our eyes peeled to see if the fountains would suddenly activate, soaking our unsuspecting anchors. And lo and behold, television magic occurred.

I want you to pay extra-close attention to the way Matt flees the scene when the water arrives.

On Matt's behalf, it seems apt to quote Woody Allen's character, Boris, in Love and Death: "We have to take our possessions and flee. I'm very good at that. I was the men's freestyle fleeing champion two years in a row."

His speed was Usain Bolt-esque.

I thought they handled it like goods sports.  However, it appears that the men did not get as wet as the women. Interesting!
Meredith and Ann laughed and had fun with it. Matt ran around the water,as if he would melt if he got a little wet.Fun for all.(almost)
Meredith, you were an absolute hoot, egging everyone to come on and try it.  We loved it!  It just let us knw that you are REAL people like us.  BTW, the Today cast has done a FABULOUS job of covering the Olympics.  I can't wait to turn on the TV and see what's going on each day (and I usually don't watch the Olympics).
Meredith, you're the best!!! My husband and I enjoy watching and listening to you.  Keep up the great work!!
OK, this goes down as the funniest moment at the Olympics!  I loved it when Meredith called Matt the Gold Metal American Wimp!  Go Meredith, your so right!
I have so enjoyed the Today Show Family every day of the Olympics. You have shown us the beautiful and the wonderful history of the Chinese people.  The culture is something to be admired and practiced by all of us. Kathy from Kill Devil Hills N.C.
I did not see that this morning.  Wish I did.  So is that why Ann did not have shoes on for the remainder of the show this morning?
That so funny how Ann got soaked! Ha ha ha! I love the TODAY show, my whole family watches it!
Matt and Al, just you wait... :)
I also noticed that Meredith and Ann looked as pretty wet as they do "dry."  They handled their wet appearances with such class.
Meredith and Ann are real "Moms".  I just love the way Meredith handles herself!  You two were awesome, just having fun with the water.  Most tv women wouldn't want to get their hair wet.  Matt & Al, I can't say that I blame you for not wanting to get wet, but it would have made for funny tv having all of you soaking wet!
the today show family is the greatest show to wake up to.  the only problem is i'm late for work everyday cuz i don't want to miss it. i've never been really into the swimming part of the olympics, but am now a phelps phan!! go today!!
Meredith,

I love you watching you at the Olympics and on the Today Show in New York every day.
Meredith,

I love you watching you at the Olympics and on the Today Show in New York every day.
Boy, Ann almost got a WOOHOO moment when that water
shot up under the back of her dress! and that caused her to lean forward and get a face full! poor Ann, what a trooper, had to laugh. Love you Meredith, you
get the 'GOLD' for making 'this' event so much fun!
WHO NEEDS PERFECT HAIR & MAKEUP, YOU GO GIRLS!
