Behind the Scenes: The Clinton and Obama Interviews

With the Pennsylvania primary looming on Tuesday, Monday offered a rare opportunity for TODAY to interview Democratic presidential contenders Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in person on the same day. Ann Curry spoke to both of them, and our piece aired Tuesday morning. WATCH VIDEO
It was a long day that took us from New York to Scranton to Blue Bell (outside Philadelphia) and back to New York, but our one day paled in comparison to the tireless efforts of the candidates and their campaign teams, who have been doing this now for 15 months.

I honestly don't know how they do it.
And while this race is serious business (and I believe we treat it as such), when you're following the candidates around the Keystone State, it's also important to note the following (after the jump):
1. Because you never know when you'll have a chance to eat, it's important to have food on hand. A good choice: my mother's homemade macaroons (Noah, the glutton of the group, ate three).

2. Speaking of food, if you're not an official member of the traveling Obama press corps, you are not permitted to eat from the catered buffet. Ann learned this the hard way.
3. Some people have way too much time on their hands. (And in the interest of equal time, we looked for, but could not find, similarly-decked out Obama or McCain vehicles.)

4. Our driver, Mohamed, is a confident guy. And for good reason -- working on a very tight schedule, he got us around Pennsylvania safely and efficiently.

5. We are so addicted to our BlackBerries that one day, these devices will rise up and enslave us. And I, for one, will welcome our new electronic overlords. Or giant mutant ants, depending on which group takes over the planet first.
