The Circus is in Town!

It's always a circus around here (remember when Richard Simmons showed up?), but today it was really a circus.

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey brought the Greatest Show on Earth to the plaza, showing off the "Globe of Steel," the Henen Troupe of acrobats (left) and other crowd-pleasing performances. WATCH VIDEO

Do you remember your first trip to the circus? Or the look on your child's face the first time you brought him or her to see the three rings?

My favorite circus moment happened when I was about four years old, and Ringling Bros. came to the (now dearly departed) New Haven Coliseum.

My parents took me and my friend Louie to the show, and at some point, clowns came into the crowd and chose a few kids to sit in a couple of open cars that drove around on stage.

Fortunately for me and Louie, they chose us, so we got to be part of the show, riding around and waving to the audience. So I can always say that for a brief period in my life, I ran away from home and joined the circus.

On a side note, seeing clowns running around always reminds me of one of my favorite episodes of "The Simpsons," when Homer goes to clown college. Just reading the script makes me laugh.

As a full-time retail employee at Bloomingdale's in Boca Raton I take exception to the "haggle" segment which aired on Monday, March 22nd.  My coworkers and I stand on our feet 37 hours a week working hard to earn a living.  It is very discouraging to hear someone come on your show and tell your viewers to "haggle" with ticketed prices in all retain stores.  Perhaps it is time to invite someone on to discuss the other side of the story. Each time you encourage your viewers to seek another retail discount, one of my colleagues is losing a portion of their income.  Most retail stores offer a variety
of discount events and sales throughout the year and if the consumer takes advantage of these events, there is no need to further "haggle" for a better bargain
