Happy 50th, Matt!

Matt's got a big birthday on Sunday -- his 50th!

In honor of the milestone, the AARP presented Matt with an official membership card, and some old friends -- including former co-host Katie Couric, Nightly News anchor Brian Williams and actress Julia Roberts -- sent their birthday greetings.  WATCH VIDEO

Even though she's on vacation, Meredith passed along her birthday wishes for Matt...and Matt sent them right back.  It's also Meredith's birthday on Sunday!

So how will Matt be celebrating the big 5-0? According to the birthday boy himself, he's got a low-key day planned-- celebrating the big day with his wife and kids.

Happy Birthday, Matt.  You and Meredith join other illustrious greats such as Tiger Woods and everybody's(in Springfield, IL) best friend Snookey -he'll be 84, so you've got a ways to go to catch up with him!
And remember, 50 is not old; I cried like a baby on my 25th.  I just kept hearing a little voice saying "A quarter of a century!", so by the time 50 rolled around, I was numb.  Two weeks ago was the "25th anniversary of my 29th birthday", so I know what you're thinking.  Fugitabout it, you guys both look great!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT AND MEREDITH.  It bothered me more to turn 31 than 30.  Also as of Feb. 2nd I turn 55 and truly considered by many a senior citizen.  It will be so hard and already is to consider myself one. My parents died when they were 55/56.  

Meredith, I read the article in Good Housekeeping.  I am also of Portuguese discent.  I know how to make Kale Soup.  I intend to send you the recipe asap. I also enjoy watching you on Millionaire.  Hope I get the chance to meet you in person someday.  I live in Tucson, Az for the past 5 years but am orginally from New Bedford, MA which has alot of Portuguese living there.  My grandparents also were from the Azores.
