Happy 50th, Matt!

Matt's got a big birthday on Sunday -- his 50th!

In honor of the milestone, the AARP presented Matt with an official membership card, and some old friends -- including former co-host Katie Couric, Nightly News anchor Brian Williams and actress Julia Roberts -- sent their birthday greetings.  WATCH VIDEO

Even though she's on vacation, Meredith passed along her birthday wishes for Matt...and Matt sent them right back.  It's also Meredith's birthday on Sunday!

So how will Matt be celebrating the big 5-0? According to the birthday boy himself, he's got a low-key day planned-- celebrating the big day with his wife and kids.

Happy 50th Matt!!! It's not as bad as you think it is, really! I, too, agonized over turning the big 50 for MONTHS before the big day! I watch you every morning & have seen all the interviews you have done with guys in ths same boat, so to speak, & I am AMAZED at how y'all freak out about a number!!! That is ALL it is too....A NUMBER!!! I know, 'cuz when THE DAY finally came for me....I went, "wow", it really isn't a big deal! Of course, you have to have the big party & take all the ritual ribbing, but when it comes down to it....you are as old as you feel! My biological clock sez I'm 50, but my heart & mind sez I'm still in my 30's & ready for ALMOST anything! You are the same way too! I've seen it! So, Matt, take all the jokes & pranks in stride & in the end, hold up your head & shout......"I'm 50 yrs old & damn proud of it!"

I forgot to tell you....About the AARP card.......I, too, got a card in the mail about 1 wk after my birthday!! I almost cried! That's when it really hit me. I called my parents & announced to them that I was officially on my way to being a senior citizen!!!! They laughed so hard! Have fun & enjoy life!!  Love to you & yours!

I turned 50 on Dec 18th and I feel wonderful.
Enjoy your day!!! You certainly look much younger and that combined with your fun personality will keep you young in the years to come. I love the show and it continues to be the only one I ever watch in the morning before work. Thanks to you and everyone on the show for putting a smile on my face everyday. I'm also at the milestone but have to say it feels great.You only feel your age when someone asks you to change a light bulb and it takes two of you to change it.
