Matt is off this week (David Gregory is filling in for him), but he's not spending his time idly. Over the weekend, he was in Florida to host two fundraisers for Hospice of Palm Beach County: the 10th annual Jay Robert Lauer Golf Tournament and the Ermenegildo Zegna Evening at The Breakers Hotel.

Matt was at The Breakers on Saturday to raise money
for Hospice of Palm Beach.

Matt's father, Jay, received care from Hospice in 1997, when he was battling cancer. You can read more about it in this article from Sunday's Palm Beach Daily News.

My heart is with you Matt.My wife died of Cancer in 1999.Left to raise our three daughters.Fight the good fight.
Matt keep up the good work. I know what its like losing a parent to cancer, I lost my father, aunt, and very soon my uncle to the same canser.
so much money to be raised!  where do ann and matt find the time?  (the ann-ticipation of this morning's bungee jump nearly killed me, but miss ann's yoga-jump/swan dive was well worth the wait.  i do hope the blood redistributes properly through ann's circuitry in time for her next interview with a potential musharraf successor!)
My thoughts go out to Matt and his family.  I know of the great loss he's feeling, especially during anniversary's and holidays. I lost my mom 4 yrs ago during a 3 month battle with cancer at the very young age of 62.  Years do get a little bit easier and I think it's mostly because she doesn't want me to go on living with sadness.  Keep your dad's spirt alive in your children.  I do with mine.  Good luck on your compaign to raise money for hospice.  "They" are the true caregivers who bring the dying and the grievers comfort and peace within our souls.
Our thoughts go out to Matt and his family. I know what it is like to lose a parent to cancer. I lost my father in May of 2003.My dad was 71 when he passed away.
I too lost my father of cancer in 2005, Although I am one of the persons Matt talks about with the "dark Cloud"  No matter how I try I cannot get over the loss, my dad and my husband did alot of remodeling work in my home and almost everything in my home dad had touched,  it just seems like everything has gone downhill since his death.  He was a motivator and he had a way of making whomever was around him feel good.  Matt I think it is wonderful what you are doing.
Like all the others we lost our dear Mom at a young age .We just had the 20th aniv of her death and now we all just found out the other day that this will be our Fathers last Christmas age 74 I cant thank Matt and Ann for all they due and in fact the WHOLE Today show staff
I to lost my mother and sister to cancer, I miss them very much, we were all such good friends and spent alot of time together.  The years make it easier. I still talk alot about them, I want my kids to feel like they know them a little.  I'm a BIG fan of yours Matt, and you always have your heart in things.  Keep up the good work.
Way to go, Matt. I lost my husband to cancer in 1987
at the age of 42 leaving me to raise to sons by
myself. You only get stronger, but the memories will
always remain.
Matt having a personal interest in a cause makes you so much more effective.  I have battled cancer twice, and at age 42 I am cancer free once again.  It was people like you that kept my family off the street during those times; we never missed a meal or a beat. All is well...   <P>Ann's Jump was incredible, I have a new respect for her, I could never have done it, never.  God Bless and Merry Christmas.
Thank you Matt, for all that you are doing?  I am a Hospice nurse and all the support you are giving families over the world does not go unnoticed.
When my brother died of cancer 12 years ago at the age of 48, Hospice was there.  They are the most incredible people, Angels is what they are to the person who is leaving this life and to those who are left behind.  What a great way to honor your Dad and help such a wonderful organization.
