It never ceases to amaze me how these super rich stars want us, middle class Americans, to support their causes by buying..$175 for the bracelet is out of reach for most of us.  I am also curious as to just how much Julia has given of her own money?

Why not help fight AIDS in America.

Great idea.  I looked here to get some for Christmas presents and they
are already out.  I am also planning to let each of 5 granddaughters chose a  gift of aid for the African people on the Mercy Corp site for them to sign their name to and experience giving.

I agree with bloggers, it's unattractive, overpriced, and we need to remember our U.S. AIDS patients first.  

OH MY Goodness, Julia has really gone off the deep end on this one.  The bracelet is ugly and at a cost of $175, I could buy something I would be proud to wear.  Plus why send this money to another country we have plenty of people in this country suffering from AIDs.  Wake up Julia.....

It's so nice that 40% of the **GROSS PROFIT** is going to the aids cause!!!! How many **MILLIONS** will **EMPORIO ARMANI** make with the60% they will keep!!!! THey must feel warm and fuzzy inside for this nice deed they are doing!!!!

Too much money for something waaay too ugly to wear...looks eerily similar to a bracelet I made in shop class in 8th grade...  

I think it is petty to attack an actress who is trying to do something to help in this world.  At least she is doing something.  Thank you Julia for trying.

...as a long term survivor of AIDS,I find it incredulous that these multi-million-mega-buck actors think that a person like myself struggling on $1k per month would spend $175.00 for a piece of leather, (easily found in any accessories boutique) when this is money I would use for gas, food etc.
I'm sick and tired of being played for stupid with the assumption that any middle class American always has the disposable income to spend on such little niceties for the benefit of those in other countries other than the U.S. AGAIN?!...HELLO JULIA! God love ya !...but what happened to the concern of your fellow Americans?  You know the one's without health insurance...or sending your children to bed still hungry...or behind on the mtg/rent...or just given the pink slip from your boss...shall I continue?
What are you mega celebrity types doing for your fellow Americans?...you know the ones who've paid $10.00+ to see your movie, the one's that your agent negotiated for millions?
Where are the priorities of these mega rich mega... mega paid superstars? I'm sick and tired of the blah blah, "I really am concerned about blah blah blah of those less fortunate people...IN OTHER COUNTRIES!" Charity starts at home Julia.
Wake up America! while most in this country are still asleep behind the wheel, we continue to allow before our eyes continue to let our Constitution  be destroyed our dollar continue to fall and let "Little Nero"  continue to break even the most elementary of laws...of course let's not forget our "IMPOTENT CONGRESS".

We are fighting aids here in the United States thanks to celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor who fought to bring attention to this killer virus when the Reagan administration was slow to address it. Celebrities can help increase awareness and Julia Roberts is providing a wonderful service by getting involved with this campaign. She should be applauded and not criticized. Whoever decided on the price is out of touch with middle class America. We are being excluded from participating at these prices.

I don't see why some people are upset by the cost. It is by Armani for Gods sake. It is not intended for the lower or middle class but people who can afford to shop at designer boutiques. Personally, I will continue to support Toys for Tots & the local charities that I can afford to give to.

Most of what is advertised or showcased on the Today show is out of reach for the majority of their audience. That being said, there is nothing wrong with raising awareness on the continuing pandemic of AIDS, regardless of where the patients and potential patients live.  $175 for those who shop on 5th Avenue or Rodeo Drive is the same as those who spend $1 for a LiveSTRONG bracelet on Main Street in your hometown.  Every bit helps.  AIDS knows no geographical boundaries, no economic boundaries, it doesn't discriminate.  And many of those charities and causes that you contribute to outside of the traditional 'red whatever' campaigns, help folks and their families afflected with this disease.  Toys for Tots, being one that makes sure that kids are not forgotten.  Give wherever you can, to whatever cause moves you to do so... it may not be money, it maybe your time.  We all get by with a little help from our friends, and friends we haven't met yet.  Yes, there are many needs in our country, on so many different fronts: health care, family wage jobs, affordable housing, good education, hunger and homelessness... if you can, make a difference in someone's life and help them with a donation to your food or clothing bank, give to your United Ways, help out at a school, watch what and where you spend your money (with businesses who provide healthcare for their employees, pay good wages, respect their employees), give to your church, or drop off a box of food or gift to someone in your neighborhood that you know is having a tough time, add money to your electric bill to help pay for someone else's heat.  And if your budget is stretched beyond belief, call someone who's lost a family member and just talk.  The holidays are lonely and extremely hard for them.  Senior citizens who are shut in their homes or in nursing homes could use a friendly fact to pass the time with and to share their stories.  Bottom line, thank you Julia for doing all that you do.  I don't expect you or any other person to give a list of all their charitable and good works, otherwise there would be a blog about your bragging.  Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and a better, brighter and more hopeful New Year for all!
