Matt and the Jerboa

This morning, Ann read a news item about the long-eared jerboa, an endangered animal recently found in the deserts of Mongolia. They're calling it the "Mickey Mouse of the desert," but Ann thought it reminded her of someone else. Take a look:

Personally, I don't see the resemblance, and I not sure anyone else here does either...but do you think Ann was onto something?

Many times the people we spend most of our day with does remind us of a cute and loveable animal.

I don't think Matt's ears are big like the jerboa.  I have never thought Matt's ears are big.  So I can see where Matt and others do not see the resemblance.  Now if Matt starts jumping around the studio like a jerboa you may need to address this matter again!

No, I don't see the resemblance. Re: becoming 50. I will be 68 in Jan. and currently compete in softball 3 times a week, golf twice a week and I bowl once a week, plus competing once a month in tournament softball (4 games on a weekend). I am not an exception as we have hundreds of seniors playing softball in 4 divisions divided by skill levels(At 67 I am still in the top) and thousands playing golf on our 20 executive courses and 10 championship courses. Turning 50 and wanting to compete is really quite funny.

Happy Birthday Matt. You are not the only one turning 50 this year. I also will be 50 on Dec.25. I have 3 children, 23,21,17.   My  wish for my birthday is that all my children were here to celebrate with me. They won't be as I have 1 son living in Hawaii (he is US Army and just finished his 1st tour in Iraq) The other 2 live here with us.I can't believe that I have reached this mile stone. One of my friends, also close to my age, commented that we may wish to do the things that  we did at 30, but our body's won't let us anymore. At least I am still able to go to work part time and do some volunteer work..   Happy Birthday.... from a long time veiwer, Marilyn

Yo Matt,

  First and foremost happy 50!!Having past 58 in October 2007, I can tell you fret for naught...Two thoughts come to mind, 1)Satchel Paige said that age is mind over matter, "If you don't mind, it don't matter." 2)I volunteer at a senior center with the Lunch Bunch which combine s a meal with bingo. as I was pouring coffee ˆheard this voice say "forget the Decaf give the good stuff. you must be the new coffee boy." My response was to ask how many birthdays she had. She said,"96 a month ago."I asked what her secret was and she smiled with, "don't die!!". We laughed a lot. So Matt enjoy the the continued trip and briefly consider the alternative. I don't fear death, it's just I don't like hours....Batter up!

Well, for starters, their eyes are both like small black marbles and they both have wide foreheads, indicating larger than average brains.  Conclusion: Matt  and the (Marithé François) Jerboa ARE TWINS and Miss Ann Curry is a genius.

Happy, Happy Birthday Matt. I think Ann was just kidding around, I think Ann is very fond of you and enjoys working with you. She is a very kind person and her gesture is of good nature. So you have finally reach the milestone, you do not look it at all.
I hope you would have a great day with your family. So you are a Saggittarius too ha. Very kind hearted people. I just turn 52. I do not think you even slightly look like the jerboa.

INDEED SHE WAS!  Miss Ann is as serious as they get when it comes to news gathering and reporting.  And allthough this was not a important as the tongue lashing that she gave Bhutto a comple months ago in Afghanistan, I like to think that it carries the same TRUTH that we have learned to grow and love from our beloved Today Show-Stopper!

Happy Birthday, Matt!!!

I love watching all of you. I'm 27 years old, married, work ft, attend college part-time, have a 4 mth. old puppy and a cat.  The Today Show is awesome.  I always hear great life & money tips, see new and exciting recipes and wish I were traveling to your exotic destinations.  Your show makes me laugh and that's a good thing right before a long awaiting day of work and college. You are all a wonderful team to watch.  Thank you for all the laughs.

I just want to tell Matt that age is just a number.  I didn't get upset about any birthday until my 70th.  I thought I was too young for that number.  If  you act young, think young then being 50 shouldn't bother you.  It didn't me.
