I had the pleasure of not only meeting you but being interviewed by you on October 8th when I was invited to become a member of the Joy Fit Club.  I'm often asked if I was nervous.  I was, until I looked at you.  You made me feel very at ease and your genuine, caring spirit was very evident.  When people tell me that there is NO ONE who can be all things to all people, I simply tell them, "You haven't met Anne Curry."  Have a great birthday.  By the way, GREAT CAKE.  Happy Birthday from your biggest fan in Tampa, Florida.

My Goodness, Happy Birthday. You are the same age as my daughter. I have three daughters and they are 51, 49, and 40. I hope you are loving being in the 50's. It reminds me of my 50's. One of your topics this morning was about the baby boomers being in the sandwich catagory and I am afraid I will be the one this time to be cared for. It was also called the sandwich catagory when I was at this age and I had my parents and a brother to care for. Thank goodness for daughters. You are one of the best. Do you know that you are my uuma? That is the Inupiat Eskimo word for women who are born in the same year, thus the same age. My husband and I live in Kiana Alaska, a remote Eskimo village above the Arctic Circle. We manage the grocery store, the only grocery store in the village. Yet our mission here is the children. I teach Sunday School, put on the programs, in our apartment above the store we have movie nights and craft night for all the village kids.We are also being investigated as possible foster parents. Life here is desperate with alcoholism and drugs but we try to give the children options. Cold, as low as
-61. Yesterday I walked to the one room church at
-10. There are no restaurants, banks, doctors... nothing, yet it is a special lifestyle. You have been all over the world now it is time to see what bush village life is like. Many here live in substandard housing yet we are blessed to have a nice 3 bedroom large apt which we are opening to you and your team. Come show the 'outside' what it is like here in a remote part of America. The icefishing is in full force, snow machines are out, the darkness is overtaking the light, the Northern Lights are dancing. You will fall in love with the Eskimo children who know nothing about outside of the bounderies of this village.
From one uuma (ooma) to another Happy Birthday and isn't life wonderful in our 50's!!

  I am 52 years old and the single mother of 5 grown children. For as long as I could remember I had depended on Katie Couric's big smile in the morning to get me going and to help me to continue to believe that I could accomplish whatever I put my mind to...well, when she left I thought that I would be lost without her, but I have to say, you have more than taken over that spot in my life.
