Bruce Springsteen is Coming!

Bruce SpringsteenWhen word leaked a couple weeks ago around here that Bruce Springsteen might be coming to TODAY, the news spread through the halls amazingly quickly. Almost immediately, I had people -- who don't even work on the show -- calling to ask me if it was true.

Well, today we can say that it's indeed true. September 28, on the plaza, Bruce and the E Street Band will be here. That's right, not Bruce by himself, not Bruce and the Sessions Band...but Bruce (the Boss, Scooter), Miami Steve, the Great Nils Lofgren, the Tennessee Terror, the Professor, Phantom Danny, Mighty Max, Patti, and of course, the Big Man. WATCH VIDEO

Gives me chills just thinking about it. As I've mentioned in this space before, I'm a big Bruce fan.

The last time we saw Bruce and the band on a full-scale tour, it was a rainy October night four years ago at Shea Stadium. After they completed a performance of "Blood Brothers" and walked off the stage, many of us wondered if we'd see everyone together again for another tour -- especially with the Big Man seemingly ailing. But now, at age 65, the oldest member of the band is apparently ready to break out his tenor sax for another run.

This is shaping up to be a great year for Bruce fans. A new album, a tour, and it all gets going right here on TODAY. I can't wait.

GREAT NEWS.... NEVER HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF SEEING BRUCE IN CONCERT, DOES NOT COME TO THIS AREA (MISSISSIPPI) WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE DAY OFF AND BE IN NEW YORK ON THE 28TH - SINCE I AM A NURSE AND WILL BE UNABLE TO BE IN THE CITY THAT DAY, HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WILL RECORD FOR ME TO VIEW LATER - NEVER A GREATER PERFORMER FOR THE WORKING FOLKS AND SO DOWN TO EARTH
Bruce will be on Fishers Island this weeked playing or 40 mins at a wedding there.  He is booked for 1.2 million dollars, must be nice.
I have been a Springsteen fan for close to 30 years.
I have been lucky enough to see him perform three times.  The greatest though was Labor Day weekend 2001.  My teenage son and I were unable to get tickets to see Clarence at the Stone Pony, so we were outside in our rented Mustang listening instead. My son saw a man in a bomber jacket and ball cap enter the Stone Pony, he said it looked like Bruce.(Yeah right!) The next moment they announced that Bruce was there to play. We were out of the car standing on concrete piers, with the ocean behind us listening to "the Boss" sing Mustang Sally.  My son and I will be at Mellon Arena on November 14 in Pittsburgh, PA.  Life is good!!!!!!!
Bruce has shown what an unbelievable musician he is over 30+ years. Been listening to Live at the Hammersmith-Odeon 1975, The Rising, Devils and Dust and Live in Dublin recently and been to many shows w/E Street Band, Sessions Band, and solo. There is no doubt Bruce is better than anybody else in music today.  If you're skeptical check him out on the 28th.  If you dont love it, you're probably dead!!
Cleveland says WELCOME BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND THE E-STREET BAND-PRAYING FOR MORE WATTS GOTTA BLAST THIS BABY ALL THE WAY TO NEW JERSEY,
I have always loved and respected the music of Bruce. I have only seen him on television, but I believe in the communion of saints and also that we are all brothers and sisters as children of God. Prayer can be in any form, and the music and poetry of the great singers, such as Bruce, Dylan, the Beatles, both as a group and individuals, Neil Young, Cat Stevens(yes, even he is our brother)and many others have given joy and euphoria to us who are lonely and approaching eternal life through our crumbling body. We will all be together in the sunburst of love and light. Then, we can all listen to the music of nostalgia and joy.
Henri in Germany: You are a sad sad little man.
Matt & Meredith,
No-one could be a bigger fan of the "Boss" than this crazy red head from TN. I am a widow who raised 4 kids, and life long dream come true to meet Bruce or even get to see him in person in concert. Would be great for a contest, I along with at least 5 million others would do anything to see the man and hear what may be the last tour for the group togeher.
Would be magical for me to attend.
On April 12, 1976, my 18th birthday, I was dragged to see a concert at a small arena in Johnstown, PA by well meaning friends.  That night became one of life's pivotal moments for me.  The Born to Run tour.  My now 18 year old son also shares my love for the words and music.  One of my favorite memories in life is my son rolling down the car window and singing "Just roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair".  Bruce was the first concert I took him to at the MCI Center in DC in 1998.  And, we will see be in DC later this year to do it again.
Not one day goes by that I don't listen to Bruce at some point during my day. For those of you who have never seen him in concert, don't knock it until you have tried it. I have watched him evolved as an artist for 30 years and he gets better and better and is always full of surprises. No one puts more love and energy into their music, their shows, their lyrics, their band, than Bruce. I thank him for sharing his gift with all of us who truly appreciate him as an artist and all around good, good man. Thanks for all the great times Bruce, every show I have seen is more memorable than the last. I will see you in cleveland and Pittsburgh for sure and who knows where else to experience the Magic!
And as a note to Matt, what a way to wake up on Septmeber 28th morning, to  Matt Lauer and Bruce Springsteen. For me,it doesn't get any better than that! Thank you Bruce, Thank you today show!
Decent song writer, lousy singer, mediocre guitar player, poet? "go-cart Mozart checking out the..." almost as bad as John Cougar. Totally over-rated.
Mike from Buffalo: Your ignorance is showing. You are quoting a line from a song released in 1973! If you don't have anything nice to say, then just shut the hell up. The fact that 99% of the posts on this forum are all from HUGE Bruce fans just shows how much of an impact he has had the world over. Too bad you are so close minded as to write off one of the greatest song writers ever born based on a song he wrote when he was in his young 20's. You too are just a sad sad little man...
I grew up listening to the Boss...no matter how far and long I have been away from my roots at the NJ Shore, Bruce & the E Street Band timeless jams always guides me back home. Psyched to see you play again, LIVE!!!
I absolutely love and adore Bruce. I've seen him countless times and have never been to a better concert. He just seems to never quit.  I have always thought that movies could be made based on the themes of Born to Run, Thunder Road, Rosalita, etc.  His lyrics are so true.  I can't wait to see him on the Today Show Sept. 28. I'm taking the day off. It's a holiday as far as I'm concerned.
I remember seeing Bruce when he came to Cincinnati back in 1978.  My twin sister and I waited three weeks to get tickets and still ended up in the fifth row.  I wish it was that easy now.  We've seen him 10 times over the years and it got harder and harder to get a decent seat.  Bruce and his band give the greatest concerts ever.  I've never seen a bad show.  Now my 16 year old daughter is into Bruce.  We watched an early concert from the 70's and she absolutely loved.  She has downloaded many Springsteen songs on her ipod.

You only live once.  If you haven't seen Bruce live in concert, you need to put that on your list of things to do before you die.
Bruce is the BOSS and always will be.  I grew up to his early music where the songs spoke of the events of my life and I have never had another artist touch me with words like Bruce Springsteen can and has.  His music is magical and touches the soul.
Okay ...dreams do come true right?

Please can you help me get there!!!!!!!!!!

BROOOOOOOOOOCCCCCCCEEEEEEEE!!!!! OOOOOO YEAH!!! Gotta love him and his band. I've seen him 3x in The Netherlands and he was brilliant every time. Send me over to NY for the show please! Thanks for your co-operation HAHAHA......as if :(
Have fun at the concert people.
I am setting my alarm clock for 2 in the morning and heading downtown to the plaza...! i cannot wait!

NJ Turnpike Tolls: $9.25
Gas to get there $ 35.00
Facing a fear of driving in NY: hundreds in therapy
Possibly being seen on nation TV while working: stupid
Seeing Bruce rock out on the today show:  priceless
Well I just watched the Today show and was not impressed, Radio Nowhere sounds like an outtake from the River sessions. Of course Bruce had to be political before singing Living in the Future, he can't help himself these days I suppose, but I'd like to ask the fans who praise him one question: Are you even remotely aware of what Socialism would do the US? I don't think you do, if you did you wouldn't be buying his new (or any) of his CDs and cheering Bruce on. Bruce must also be in the dark because he must not realize that his music would not have made him millions if it weren't for a thing called CAPITALISM. So why on earth would a man born and raised on free market Capitalism ask his fans to vote for socialist democrats? What he's saying is that it's okay for him to benefit from Capitalism but the rest of us poor slobs need to be cared for by big government. Well I'm not buying that and if you had any sense at all you would give the boss a pink slip. But hey, if you want your lives controlled by a socialist government then you will get what you deserve in 2008.
I just went to the concert tonight and ended up leaving early because it was so unbelievably and unnecessarily beyond loud, that it was not enjoyable.  It was difficult to understand the words unless you knew them all, and the whining, screaming high pitches of the electric guitars and sax ruined some songs.  Bruce is great, but, why in 2007 does the band think we need to hear it so ungodly loud?  I would have loved this concert at one tenth the decible.
