Q and A With 'Jimmy Justice'

Posted: Friday, August 17, 2007 9:14 AM by Chimene Williams
Filed Under:

This morning Studio 1A was paid a visit by justice, “Jimmy Justice.”  He’s an average guy from Brooklyn, New York who’s outraged by New York City’s aggressive (his word) ticketing policy.  Watch the video here.

“Jimmy Justice” talked to me for a few minutes about why he started trailing traffic enforcement agents with his video camera.

allDay: When did you start making these videos?
I started making videos about a year ago.  I collected videos of this sort because I saw a traffic enforcement agent write a civilian a ticket for blocking a fire hydrant and then that same traffic officer who wrote the summons to the civilian got back into his official vehicle, made a u-turn and he parked blocking a different fire hydrant across the street.  And he went into a restaurant to eat lunch.  And I said there has got to be something wrong with that.

allDay: Do you think it will make a difference?
I hope it will snowball.  Everyday the amount of hits are really growing.  It’s my hope that after a larger amount of people see the video, they’ll be outraged and force City Hall to change their policy of predatory ticketing and to install a system of checks and balances monitoring the behavior of the traffic enforcement agent.

allDay: What do your friends think, and why?
They love it.  For the same reason that the public loves it.  Everyone wants to see the bully get what they deserve.  And these people are bulling the citizens of New York by being overly aggressive.  And now we’re catching them when they’re doing something wrong.  And now we’re turning the tables on them.

allDay: How many tickets have you gotten?
I’m a careful driver and I read all the signs and I still get tickets.  I get approximately three per year.  Every couple of months I get one.  Even if I’m super careful I still get tickets.  A lot of the signs are ambiguous and I think that may be on purpose.

allDay: Are you political?
Yes.

allDay: Would you ever run for public office?
If I was elected to office I would want to pay attention to what the people have to say because the government is to serve the people and no try to rip the people off through aggressive ticketing.

allDay: How did you come up with the name Jimmy Justice?
It sounds like give me justice and we need things to be fair in this city.  Parking tickets should be about public safety and not as a way to generate revenue for the city.

After watching and reading what “Jimmy Justice” had to say, what do you think?  How would you handle a situation like this?

Why do people like "J Justice" get air time for the purpose of exposing the very same agency that protects him on the streets of his own city? This Michael Moore want-to-be should channel his energy on issues that are really important -(work in a soup kitchen?) - instead of wasting the time of law enforcement officers who are liable to get a gun in their face on any given traffic violation stop. This voice of "civilian" rights is getting tiresome.
I was not impressed by the Today Show allowing this man (Jimmy Justice) air time on the show.  It would seem as he has broken the law more than once to make him this bitter towards law enforement, (or maybe he couldn't make it in law enforcement.  My husband is in law enforcement, and with society, this date and age and the respect that people no longer have make dealing with law breakers or criminal more difficult.  I would hope not to see this man again and hope that he gets prosecuted for harrasment on police officers.  The people and the children growing up need to realize that law enforcement is there for your protection.  At the end of the piece is was obvious he was using the air time to promote financial gain with a show out of his videos.
NBC should be embarrassed by giving this guy his 15 minutes of fame.  As a New Yorker who has gotten his share of tickets and chased around blocks for being in a no standing zone from the traffic cops I am in no way a fan of theirs.  However, I think NBC putting this guy on air is reprehensible. I had to turn my TV off during this “news” piece.  Certainly part of what the Video showed was clear illegal moves by the subject traffic police, but double parking and illegal parking for the purpose of issuing summons I would imagine is not against any protocol.

My big issue is NBC’s endorsement of getting in the face of law enforcement personnel and screaming at them, it is irresponsible.  Are you encouraging everyone with a video camera to go scream at people and incite them so it makes an interesting video on YouTube as a precursor to get on the today show with David Gregory (who my wife thinks is great by the way).  More clips like this and I am watching Good Morning America.
Jimmy Justice,, how about Colin The Clown. By his own comments it sounds like he has been cited several times and is angry. And my bet is the he whined, cried and most likey was rude and obnoxious to the officer issueing the citation.

So what does he do? He violates the law to get his video. Standing in the middle of the street. Endangering himself and other drivers around him. the law allows officers in the performance of their duties to violate traffic laws.

Yes I saw the cop in the deli while the patrol car was in front of a fire hydrant. Something he might want to weigh into his decision as to how wrong that is. The cop is skipping her lunch or coffee break (which every one who works, takes on a regular basis). If there is an emergency situation how much time do you want that cop to waste to walk to get to her patrolcar. I would be willing to bet he would be the first one to shout about the cop taking so long to get to him.

When your child is choking or your father is having that heart attack, or your daughter is delivering that child before she can get to the hospital,,how much time do you want lost walking back to the patrol car?

This Clown needs to find something useful to do.
Dear NBC Today,

As a former Texas Police Officer, I could not believe you would take time on your Today program to give “Jimmy Justice” one second to talk about what he does.   Jimmy clearly has a vendetta against the NYC traffic officers. You should do a story on the Police Officers and why they have to issue traffic citations in the first place. Clearly there is a need for the Officers to do what they do.
I bet that if you check the driving and parking traffic history of “Jimmy Justice” you would learn that he has not been on the side of any “justice”.
“Jimmy Justice” needs to stop interfering with the duties of a Police Officer and go video tape pigeons in the park.

Jimmy if you don't want to get a ticket, take the BUS.

I am a Retired (Disabled in the line of duty) New York City Detective. I was upset about this story because you identify the people this gentleman videotaped as being traffic police. The police department has a traffic division. For those who know of compstat, we have a trafficstat as well. These people who were videotaped are N.Y.city traffic enforcement agents NOT trained police officers. I and the people I know from the Police department were always polite and gave clear concise explanations as well as leading by example. "JIMMY JUSTICE" even states that he is channeling his anger from a few of his encounters with Traffic Enforcement Agents. Everyone knows that there are a few bad apples everywhere. These people are low paid and have high stress involved with their jobs. Imagine going to work where you will get berated and yelled at every day. Please keep in mind that Police Officers have a starting salary of approximately 25,000 dollars. These agents make even less. I do know that it can be confusing because it says police on the side of their cars. Remember police cars in N.Y. are not dark blue, they have different shields and above all..a little calm polite discussion goes a long way. Thanks for your time....
The old adage "if there's not justice for all, there's not justice at all" comes to mind.  Bravo Jimmy Justice!!!!

"All politics is local"  www.UncleRaisin.com is a website dedicated to local justice, on the order of Jimmy Justice; and it exposes local leaders around the country for violating their public trust in some significant and being the reason injustice.  Check it out.
I thought this was a ridiculous piece.  You allowed some anonymous individual show edited footage of encounters with traffic police.  In his interactions with the officers, his language was abusive and demeaning.  In answer one question, he stated that he was  “channeling” the officers.  Are you kidding me??

You gave the Officers’ Association President about 5 seconds worth of airtime to respond to the allegations.  I’m sure that there are valid explanations to why (at least most of) the officers were parking or maneuvering their vehicles in a manner that the anonymous interviewee found offensive.  I would hope that you give the Officers’ Association at least as much air time to give their side of the story.

It amazes me how police are the only group of people that can be treated with disrespect and contempt and have that treatment accepted and even encouraged by NBC.

Sincerely,
Hank - California
I park my car on a street that has at either end of the block, signs that prevent you from parking at certain places on the street because of loading for businesses. There is a traffic/ticket cop who targets my car because he knows the people who own certain businesses on that street. I am never parked in the area that does not allow me to park but when I find a space that does, he tickets my car. When I come out from my office, my car is the only car with a ticket on it. I discovered that the the officer was/is doing this because his "friends" would call him and tell him that I was parked there since it meant losing a "free space" for one of them. I have photos of the street, other cars parked at free spaces with no tickets and photos of the no parking spaces. I am really glad that you have taken the initiative to unfold the behavior of some officers.  I too plan to file a complaint with the Mayor of Pittsburgh. If there is any information you can share with me regarding your experience in filing a complaint and any fallout you experienced as a result, I would really like to know that. I also work as a paralegal (independently) so I know the how's of what to do -- I just would like to know what you experienced so I am prepared. Thank you.
Thank you and you are right our politicians don't listen to the people who have put them in office. they abuse the power for their own gain. Michael Moore and you have taken a stance. America stand up and be heard it is called free speech
What Jimmy Justice is doing is just fine with me.  If we don't speak up and complain when we see someone doing something wrong, "who ever it happens to be--a policeman or whatever, the situation will just get worse.
I wouldn't be suprised if Mr. Justice had a glove compartment full of tickets. His HATE mission shouldn't be tolerated and it's only a matter of time before he crosses the line. I don't think anyone, regardless of employment, would like to have their personal space violated. Imagine being approached by a screaming maniac, who is videotaping you in public. Not very pleasant !!!! And some individuals ( like me)would treat his actions as a threat. In other words, do that to me and you will be wearing your guitar instead of playing it. He doesn't deserve the word " JUSTICE" in his alias. And I am NOT a Police Officer for those of you who like to blame Police Officer's for all of your mistakes !!!!!!!!!!!

I like jimmy justice's idea, well done and well thought out.

He's an idiot. Who do you think the first person this Anit-Cop is going to call when he gets mugged and is laying on the street begging for help.
I agree that Jimmy's language seems to be inappropriate at times and that several of the officers appear to be repsectful and appropriate in their interactions with Jimmy, but for the most part, the officers were rude and they were ALL breaking the law.  It's ridiculous that they get away with this. They need to be held to at least the same standard as every other citizen when they are not actively engaged in an emergency, and should probably be held to a higher standard as they are the examples to us all.  The rest of the country is shaking their heads that New Yorks finest can't seem to get it right.  At least there's still Law and Order- I can love the fictional cops of NYC even if the real ones make stupid choices.
Doesn't Jimmie know that the NYS vehicle and traffic law exempts these patrol units by definition. So every so called violation he filmed is not a violation under NYS law.  So that u-turn by the patrol vehicle was not acutally illegal.  He should probably educate himself and talk to his legislators if he wants patrol vehicles to follow every vehicle and traffic law.  The legislators in NYS exempted these vehicle by definition for good reason.  Jimmie should talk to his legislators and quit harassing the officers who are doing their jobs.  In addition, I have gotten a parking ticket in NYC before and don't remember the officer screaming at me like he was screaming at them.
I am very disappointed with NBC that they would even give this ridiculous and attention starved "super hero" his 15 minutes of fame.  He is criticizing these men and women that put their life on the line to protect low life’s like him.  It is amazing how people actually buy into this too.  Isn't it apparent he is one of these people that probably got a few tickets here and there and think it is his right and responsibility to show edited footage of a few cops breaking minor traffic laws.  I say get a life and this goes for everyone else that agrees with this guy..if you don't want to get into trouble with the law..DONT BREAK THE LAW.  And really who cares that this guy has a whopping 30 hours of footage.  From someone that is going through a police academy, my opinion is going to be biased, but take it from someone that has worked with officers and know that they do break laws here and there to ensure safety of the public.  How does this guy know that the cop that did an illegal U-turn was not turning around to go to a report of a husband beating his wife?  It is always easy to criticize something or someone when you know nothing about it.
Typical NBC left wing Anti-Police Garbage. This is a guy who got a lousy parking ticket and he makes this video and NBC displays this only because it hates the Police,The Military and the President. It doesn't matter anyway because the NBC Audience keeps getting smaller and smaller. Thank Goodness for FOX News!!!!
I am glad to see someone turning the tables on officers abusing their authority.  It's a shame to see the officers park illegally in order to buy lunch, run errands, etc. knowing that any other civilian would be cited for an illegal infraction.  What pathetic examples of parking/traffic enforcement officers.  It wouldn't suprise me to find out that even if complaints were made regarding these officers, nothing was done about it.  Good work Jimmy Justice.  Looking forward to seeing more lazy officers abusing their undeserved authority.
Bravo Jimmy! Is there a franchise available for Los Angeles? Nothing is more disgusting than hypocrisy in government.

I have been a City of LA employee for 18 years and know his frustration.

What he is doing is no different than dateline of any other expose reporting. But it's not just about parking enforcement.
What about the police officers that run red-lights when nobody is looking. I've ridden with them. What about the bus drivers that park a 60 passenger bus at a bus stop to go furniture shopping. I've seen that too.

Personally I don't care what a union would say. They are about spin, not the truth. We need Jimmy Justices in every major city across the country!
This guy is an idiot!  You wonder why people disrespect hard working police officers? Its people like walking up to a cop and yelling at them in their face.  How about they start filming you and yelling at you for no reason while they are writing you that ticket you deserve.  Nice way to get your "face made for radio" 15 minutes of fame.

Why don't you apply yourself wth your camera and try to fight some crime!  Like cops don't have enough reasons to keep an eye open over their shoulders! Idiot!
Jimmy boy has verbally assaulted these police doing there jobs.  Having some nut job with a cam screaming at any person, let alone public servants who are not public whipping persons.  I mean that is a clear example of provocation and he should be arrested for assaulting people doing work or taking a break.
I see this as a divisive means to further polarize society. Being a cop is thankless and is a 24 hour career.  You do not turn it off.  Jimmy boy call a crack head next time your neighborhood thief robs your camcorder.
You will one day need these men and women you assault with your foul loud mouth.  I bet you have no girlfriend.
More like Jimmy Jackass.  When a police officer is on duty, he/she is subject to call at all times - including the time it takes to pick up breakfast/lunch/dinner.  If the cruiser is blocking a fire hydrant on his/her beat, who do you think is the 1st person dispatched to the fire, Einstein?  The police are the 1st to respond.  I believe all police officers will leave the deli counter to respond to a fire.
If a police officer needs to grab a bite (they are human, too) and there are no legal parking spaces, would you rather they park 3 blocks away?  Wouldn't that compromise their response time if an emergency arises?  Or are they just not supposed to eat?
What if (God forbid) it was your house burning?  Or your father/mother/husband/wife going into cardiac arrest and needed immediate attention?
Situations in which seconds . . . yes, actual seconds can make a difference, I would rather the 1st responder be closer to the cruiser (even if it's in a prohibited parking zone) than farther.
You, "Jimmy Justice," speak ignorance.  Plain and simple.  Police fly by the seat of their pants.  They never know when the $%&! is going to hit the fan - and they're the 1st that respond.  Why would you hassle them over trying to stay close to their vehicles when they may need them in a split second?  Even to help you.
Go find real scandal.  Look at all City Halls across America with their overstocked "Adminstrative Assistant" positions and assistant to this and associate to that.  That is where tax payer $ is wasted.
It would be interesting to see your driving record and record of parking tickets.
I really like this guy! I have seen too many ignorant lazy cops park in the middle of the street, in no parking zones even in handicapped spaces while they are buying lunch or shooting the breeze with their buddies. If I can hobble my crippled butt across a parking lot so can they!
I am 100% behind this guy. I really hope he gets a TV show where citizens can send in their video. I'll watch and I'll make a point of buying from whoever sponsors the show!
Too many government employees, especially cops think they are above the law.
If the cops have nothing to hide the won't mind a few thousand people taping them will they?
I thought the guy was an ass.  And I wondered why David didn't point out that "Justice" himself was breaking traffic laws while attacking traffic cops for breaking traffic laws
I honestly think he's not going too far... I live in Oklahoma, and every single day I see the local cops speeding, running lights, making illegal turns, and then when you actually need their help, they take 30 minutes to two or more hours to respond no matter what the call. Everyone knows that the lights and sirens mean "Emergency" and "Pull over," right? But since when do they mean for everyone to move out of the cop's way at an intersection so he can get across to the fast food restaurant across the intersection?  I have yet to see a fire rescue unit do it, but I have caught both police and EMS alike in the act... they turn their lights and sirens on about ten seconds before approaching an intersection, everyone moves out of their way of course, assuming it's an emergency. Then five seconds after crossing, the lights and sirens go off. I followed an officer and an ambulance on two separate occasions after the offenses were committed... the officer went into a McDonald's and sat down to eat lunch. The EMS driver stopped at a gas station and got himself a snack and drink, then just sat in the parking lot eating.  What was the big emergency that these guys had to push their way through traffic? The grills at the McD's weren't on fire or anything... no robbers either.
And think about this...
These guys are misusing their authority in a rush, but what about the extreme misuse that could come from failure to stop it now?
Any emergency personnel (police, fire, ambulance) are authorized to use any means necessary, with the exception of deadly force, to carry out their duties. Meaning, if you're driving down the road, an ambulance is coming with its lights and sirens on and you don't move out of the way, they are authorized BY LAW to push your car out of their way. Not RAM it, but PUSH it. So, you get one of these morons who are in a hurry to beat the lunch rush, and they figure, "I've gotten away with it all this time so far, and I'm in a BIG hurry today, so I'll just shove on through traffic." It'll never happen, you say, but what if it does? Who gets held accountable? The police will argue that they turned their lights and sirens on for an emergency call, which the civilian couldn't prove without a police-band radio and tape recorder or transcripts of all 911 calls at that time. They will claim that the civilian failed to yield to them in an emergency, so they had to push through.  Is this the kind of law enforcement we want?
I have one Question for so called "Jimmy Justice"
you said that you catch these cops parking in red zones and such to go get in line for food.
Let me ask you this. Did you know that cops DO NOT get a luch break. Lets try this as a little example. you are in a fast food place and you notice that your car is being stolen. you look over and see a cop eating his lunch, you run over to the cop and say help help my car is being stolen. The cop turns to you and says oh well man, I'm on my lunch break it will have to wait until later.
how would that make you feel???????
The reason cops sometimes park in red zones or be fire hydrents is so they always have the ability of a quick response time to jerks like yourself when you "NEED THE COPS"
Everyone seems to hate the cops all the time until, their things are being stolen!!!
The police forces across the country are some of the most corrupt organizations on the planet save for large corporations and our own government! Watching the police officer's total disregard for the laws they are sworn to uphold is just disgusting. Thank you Jimmy Justice. I have seen this kind of behavior from law enforcement officials all across the country with my own eyes so I doubt you would have to edit the footage, they make it too easy for you to get legitimate footage why change it? I have watched cops run red lights, make illegal turns, park illegally, speed OMG you see them speeding all the time. I have known officers personally and listened to them brag about how they took this prisoner or that to out of the way places and beat them. I have seen enough to have nothing but contempt and disdain for our entire justice system. Please continue to video tape them with their "ABOVE the LAW" mentality until they are finally held accountable.

I was so appauled to see their union representative stand there and say they had done nothing wrong! Nothing wrong, are you kidding me? They are bound by the same laws as the rest of us and should be held to a higher standard simply because they are in law enforcement. They should be stting an example. I guess when I park by a fire hydrant and make a u-turn in the middle of NYC it will be okay too! Cops are scum that hide behind a badge!vThey are the worst form of criminal!
I am a personal friend of Jimmy Justice. He is a wonderful person who is just fed up with the system as it is, as are so many of us. The police think they are above the law. How can they uphold the law when they set such a poor example? As for his mouthing off at police -  have you ever seen a cop talk nicely to a suspect or are they pure abusive? It is about time someone took a stand. All the power to you, Jimmy! Keep up the good work.
Bravo to Jimmy Justice for exposing the abuse of power by these traffic officers. Frankly if I found one of their cars parked in front of a fire hydrant I'd put the hose right through the passenger compartment, lay the hose across the top of the roof, or use the fire engine and push it out of the way. Oh and before anyone makes a comment, yes I am a firefighter. And yes those officers are breaking the law. And no they don't have the authority to park there. The only piece of equipment that is legally allowed to park in front of a fire hydrant or in a fire lane is a fire apparatus. Police vehicles and ambulances may also use the fire lane during an emergency but must not block access of fire apparatus. Which police officers should park away from those buildings. Their vehicles should be used to block roadways and such to prevent onlooker from getting to close to the incident. And the traffic enforcement officer that was in the store with her vehicle parked in front of a hydrant during a fire (which I saw on youtube) should have, after getting into her car, blocked traffic. Thats part of her duties as well. My suggestion to Jimmy Justice... Contact the state police to perform an investigation on the abuse of power. They have done it on many occasions here, even took over a major city once, suspending all powers of local police officers until cleared in the investigation. Keep up the good work and hopefully one day your voice will be heard.

Oh and to Hank from California... First its on camera, kinda hard to dispute, so they don't need much time to dispute it, because they can't. Second your probably one of those people that doesn't understand what the big red truck with all the flashing lights, siren, and horns blaring behind you, trying to get by you while going to put the fire out somewhere. And then say to the firefighters, when the place they were going was your house... "what took you so long!" Firefighters are treated worse than police. Its amazing that all you hear on the news is how all these police officers, after beating on doors, saved the lives of all these people when there apartment building was on fire, and treated like heroes. But you almost never hear about the firefighter that saved the life of someone by crawling into a burning building, with the fire blazing overhead. Thats right the firefighters are too busy putting out the fire, and searching for others that may still be trapped, to be bragging to the cameras. Who else told the media that they saved all those lives. Banging on doors is easy anyone can do it, try going in a building on fire when everyone else is coming out. Like they say "Like they say if you can't take the heat, become a cop." Well thats my two cents worth.
What a whiner!First, mist states/cities have laws exempting marked emergency vehicles from routine traffic infractions, secondly this wasn't someone illegally parking"for the day" and being"God knows where" if hydrant access was needed. Most officers are"on call",even on a lunch break, which are generally"when you get a chance,so how far do you want to be from your vehicle? If Jimmy Justice were to perform this little ritual with a normal citizen,it would border on "Disorderly Conduct" and well could result in him being cited or ultimately even injured/killed. "Get a Life" Jimmy J.
"It is against the law for an officer of the law to break the law while enforcing the law," was a quote by my Father expressed many times during his life.  He was a devoted and honest policeman for 40 years in San Francisco. Jimmy Justice, you are my hero. Way to go. And my Dad would have been proud of you also.
Bravo! Keep up the good work! The truth must be told.
Jen from OK.... you were right on with your comments.

I have one for all of you to think about.  There was an insurance survey released last year (can't think of the name of the agency right now).  The survey covered moving violations broken down by profession.  Police officers and firemen get the least amount of tickets.

I can't help but wonder... are they really SAFER drivers or are they just looking our for each other?

Cop 1 pulls over Cop 2 in his civilian vehicle.  Cop 2 pulls out his shield.  Cop 1 says 'ok man, just be careful out there' and lets cop 2 go.

And yes, I have seen fire truck drivers blare their sirens to get through traffic just to go food shopping.
I think "Jimmy Justice" is a great man and i would like to see him continue what he is doing making the POLICE feel ashamed for breaking the law which they are meant to be in forcing.
The World  needs more Jimmy Justice!!!!
I live in a state where THE LAW is to wear a seat belt but very every few POLICE do wear one but they will give a ticket for it in a heart beat.   Polcie are too too often Bullies any more .  they do not give the public respect.     yet they want to be tearted like gods.    Speed,   Police speed by me,  to go get a pizza,  to go get cigerts,  to  hurry and hide  on a side road to try to STOP speeders!!!
Jimmy   Justice   Thank YOU
This Jimmy Justice clown apperas to be yet another loser looking for his 15 minutes of fame. He appears to still be living at home with his Mommy. Another mid-30's loser.
Most of you are dense and only wish you had the guts to do what he does. In no way is he harrassing these people, but exposing them breaking the laws and abusing the system. Wasn't it not to long ago, 4 enforcement agents were writing bogus tickets while they shopped and gambled during work hours.
There is no sterotyping, it is what it is. These are the people in charge of keeping NY in order and they can't. Jimmy is brave to expose this and for everyone that has something negative to say, you probably a) Are a law enforcement agent, b) know someone who is c) Are jealous and/or afraid and wish you had the potential to do half of what he does.
Thank goodness for people like Jimmy! Keep up the great work! I assure you, tons of NYers are thanking you because of this!
BRAVO NBC and "JIMMY JUSTICE"! I've read everyone's responses regarding Jimmy Justice's activities and people are either for it or against it. There are some problems with "Jimmy," namely his attitude towards those he "interviews." Also, there is a problem in lumping the Traffic Enforcement Division along with the rank and file Police Department (they are not necessarily the same entity). While keeping this in mind, Jimmy is still effective, because his video record is a sharp reminder that law enforcement is NOT entitled to break the law for the sake of personal convenience. A badge or a marked car is not license to run roughshod over the law - be it a major offense or a minor traffic violation. The same laws (yes, even traffic laws) that apply to non-police officials apply EQUALLY AND FULLY TO THE POLICE. PERIOD. Can the police break speed limit and traffic laws with impunity? Yes, when it's in the line of duty. And there is the difference. "Jimmy Justice" is not chasing down officers who violate the law clearly in the line of duty. It's amazing how many here vainly attempt to justify a law enforcement official violating a traffic law by blocking a fire hydrant to go into a store for lunch, or illegally parking to enter a Rite Aid to purchase feminine care products, is beyond me. "Lunch" is NOT "official police duty" and does not qualify them to be exempt from the law. That's the problem that Jimmy (and a growing legion of others) expose. Does "Jimmy" go too far? Arguably he does. He would be more effective if he toned down his invective. However, that does not detract from the fundamental rightness of his mission  - using his video camera to document the abuse of power and privilege - even on a small scale. No one is above the law - ESPECIALLY those sworn to uphold it. If law enforcement won't hold themselves accountable, where does it end?
You people are hilarious, getting all upset because Jimmy has an axe to grind over his own tickets. It doesn't matter what Jimmy Justice thinks about cops or if he has tickets himself. All that matters here is that he is right: police are breaking the law at will, without dutiful cause, and there is nobody to stop it. Cops who are proven to do this should be disciplined and, if they don't stop, fired.
I can't believe people would disagree with what Jimmy Justice is doing...why aren't people more upset at traffic cops blatantly disregarding the rules that they're supposed to enforce?  Watch the video where the cop was blocking a fire hydrant during a fire.  I wish every town had a guy like this to make sure police take their jobs more seriously.  That badge doesn't put you above the law.
Jimmy I had the very same Idea and I'm glad you are doing this. You will have a partner. I will do my videos in the Bronx. Time and time again I have been given tickets for parking in places I never were and since the burden of proof is on the one who gets the ticket is hard to win a case. Simply saying something is not enough. they want hard core proof. Good Job!!!! I will join you soon.
Go Jimmy!!!  I hope these videos become an inspiration for others across the country.  It's time police realized they are public servants, not public masters. Cops who cut corners and abuse their badge should be called out publicly.  And if they can't handle free speech, maybe they should choose a different line of work.

Jimmy, you are the best !  I think you are brave to confront the police with a camera.  They can bust your camera, arrest you, give you a ticket for any reason.  Of course, you can take them to court and it is your word against theirs, but with a video, it is hard for them to lie.
It's so nice to see so many people outraged by the lack of attention that is paid to police officers and the petty/average crimes they make on a dialy basis also. I agree with Jimmy justice that handing out tickets to citizens should be for the safety and betterment of everyone's lives and not only for profit and revenue for the city. Hopefully, state representatives will see some clips from Jimmy justice and will make an effort to control and punish behaviors that our police forces tend to make that mimic everyday citizens.
What happens when your mom is attacked and bleading to death, and you call the cops, but the cops take too long to get there because they have to follow every traffic law to get there to save your mom?
Jimmy Justice is the beging of the end of the safety that police bring us. As an average civilain I know we dont,  and will not, know the details of cop's duties. If there is one bad apple in a bunch, and we let ourselves get carried away trying to "catch" cops doing wrong, we will find ourselves traped with no help from the police.
Regardless of what anyone thinks 'Jimmy Justices' motivation is, be it getting citations before or an idiot, and while he appears to go overboard while talking to the officials, he should not be faulted or criticized for exposing them if they break the law.

He is just filming the same behaviors that the supervisors of these officials should be correcting!
