Live from Studio 1A: Pranks

Heading into the weekend of April Fools Day, today we talked about pranks and how people can approach this silly holiday to make the most of it.  We had Rabbi Irwin Kula and Reverend Sherri Hausser on live to talk about the importance of being able to laugh at yourself and take life with a grain of salt.  I am a big proponent of laughing at myself, and I often boast I can't be easily embarrassed because I'm so comfortable making fun of myself.

The best prank anyone has ever played on me happened during my senior year in college.  One day I got home from a busy day and walked upstairs to my room only to find that I no longer had a door!  For the next week I received ransom notes for my door and was left hanging a curtain to maintain some sense of privacy.  I have to say that while at first I could laugh, by the end of one week (when the door was mercifully returned) I was not such a good sport anymore.

Would love to hear about some of the better pranks any of you have played or been "had" by...are you able to laugh at yourself?

I worked in a cubicle office environment. I had two really good friends as team mates. One male friend tapped into the other good friend's email account and sent this note from her, "I do not like you anymore and do not want to be your friend". I about lost it. I immediately jumped out of my seat and went over to her cubicle to ask her what her problem was. It was very abrupt and I was extremely upset since we had been friends for over three years. The entire time my male friend who sent the email was laughing uncontrollable at me which made me more upset, until I finally caught on.
Since I am a pediatrician, my nurses decided to pull one over on me.  Just before I walked into a patient room, I read the chart and it stated "1 year old with poor weight gain."  When I opened the door there was a cardboard skeleton from Halloween sitting on the exam table with a sign saying "April Fools".  Everyone had a good laugh and I thought it was quite clever of a prank.
My prank happened in High School.  We were doing a play on stage and during the dress rehearsal I was suppose to sit abuptly in this folding chair.  Robin, who was standing behind it, moved it to her side where I couldn't see it because my back was to it.  Plop, I landed on the floor.  I was told the look of surprise on my face was priceless!  At first I was upset, but then I laughed too.  I was hoping she wouldn't try that again, and she didn't.  But to be on the safe side, I would give a quick glance to the chair to make sure it was still there!
